hey guys, finally made an account after monitoring this chat for weeks. Under strong impressions that the roses will play. Some joker in here was banging on about an interview? Turns out something like that did take place. Will be announced next week along with the rest of the line up.

Here we go...

I think it's often underestimated on here how big of a booking Foos are as well. With them and Kanye there's no need whatsoever for the Sunday headliner to be particularly huge.

Its a tough one to judge. On one hand, they are a huge band who have been going 20 years with continued success and a large collection of hits whi haven't played since 98 .. But on the other hand, they are 'festival fodder' who play UK festivals what seems every year .. So it's hardly a coup for Glastonbury to have booked them as headliners.

I think it will be a strong surprise booking along the lines of Prince/Roses. I think Kanye would have been announced last if he was the 'main' headliner .. Why announce it when they did? It wasn't immediately before the album release or tour details .. So looks like Glastonbury themselves chose to announce it rather than Kanye.

I think they've left the big one until last .. Otherwise why not just announce it if it's not 'special'.

Just my views/hopes on the whole thing.

Just don't say anything offensive or fake a bet on it...

That guy knew something and added a load of bullshit into the mixer. (Photoshop etc). A pre recorded interview took place and discussed the line up along with the headliners. The roses were spoke of. Thats pretty much all there is to it.

That doesn't really tell us anything, though.

It's not going to be the Stone Roses FFS!

  • There is not a shred of credible evidence
  • They are not active as a band
  • There has been no 'leaks or strong rumours'
  • No band has ever headlined the Pyramid Stage 20 odd years after their last album and with no new material and only 2 albums in total.

I appreciate that for a lot of people it would be a dream but it's getting increasingly tiresome that we keep getting this rumour based on nothing else than new posters and self confessed trolls.

Arctic monkeys did it on 2 albums, it can be done whether it's been 20 years or not

You really are adamant about this aren't you? Look, at this moment in time The Stone Roses are perfectly capable of headlining the Pyramid Stage, that is literally it. There's barely any room to dispute this, it's just fact.

    • How much is Burnham's success down to Manchester getting a shitton of investment for public transport infrastructure?   There's no doubt he did the work, but the money dumped into Manchester for him to achieve that was huge - the most of any infrastructure project outside London ever. Did that need a mayor, or just the money?
    • Sounds good tbh.
    • Bristol was the only city in 2012 that voted for a mayor. We had a local independent who was popular, then Marvin Rees won and was so corrupt that Bristol voted to get rid of the position - having just had the WECA mayor position put in place as well.
    • They built a watering system and have been watering the island for the past few weeks to reduce dust, but given the current drought, there will still be dust. They will cover twice as much ground around the main stage with those plastic panels as they did before. They couldn't book Gogol Bordello because the singer was afraid the government would allow Russian security services to capture him if he entered the country. They didn't have much room to be selective about artists. They booked whoever they could get. This year's Sziget will be only about 50% of his original vision. He wanted a dedicated rock stage. They are preparing for a loss of 1.5 billion HUF this year. For some reason, student tickets are not selling in the numbers they had expected. He said that when he talks about the lineup being less important, he doesn't mean Sziget should have a weaker lineup than Primavera. Rather, it should have a similarly strong lineup combined with much more non-musical programming, so people from abroad come here to see the same artists but have a completely different overall experience. He didn't miss Sziget and originally wanted to spend no more than two days a week dealing with it, but now he's working on it full-time and has handed over control of the rest of his businesses.
    • Well the point seems to be 22.7% turn out doesn't suggest the majority are rushing out to support the mayoral system.
