I've decided to invest in a new rucksack as the one I take was my brothers one he went travelling with in 2004 and it's a bit bulky and also 65L which just encourages me to back too much stuff.

Anyone bought or see a good one recently? I don't really want to pay too much ideally as it'll just be for Glastonbury.

My best rucksack was a Karrimor but they don't seem to sell them anymore. There's a really cheap Eurohike one in Millets, at the moment. It is 65L, though. I now have a Eurohike one myself and I don't see anything wrong with the brand. I went to a camping show obn Sunday and the Kampa wideboy is a good sleeping mat and wider than the euiv outwell dreamctacher which is more expensive

Another person looking at camping mat options, need to replace our 10 year old self inflating double Vango. Don't trust it to last out another year as it already has a few patches on it.

Looking at these 2:

• Light-weight option: Klymit Double V (£90)
• Comfy but bulky option: Vango Comfort 7.5 Insulated Double Sleeping Mat (£75)

Going to see if Millets have the Vango in stock to test it out.

Need a good level of comfort as were getting old but want to keep the bulk / weight down for coach travel. Also considered separate mats that can be joined together but can't find much other than unknown brand stuff like this Wild Earth Ultra Lightweight (£33 x 2).

Any thoughts?

Nothing wrong with an airbed but they're bulky and heavy and fly over.

We tried a cheap double one a long time ago but didn't find it comfortable. Didn't seem to have the right support and movement of restless partner traveled though the mattress. Plus takes up more space in tent / can't walk on it.

Have some old injures to deal with now and getting older so some comfort is important.

In my youth I managed with just an ancient 2 man ridge tent, thin sleeping bag, no mat and a bottle of whiskey. Think the whiskey was the key to it, but need to look after ourselves better these days.

I flew in for the last festival. I bought an air mattress (in Argos) when I arrived and on leaving Glastonbury packed it back up in its original box with pump etc. and dropped over to the charity point to ask if they had any use for it. As it was in perfect nick they were happy to take it. Otherwise, I had packed a spare bag to fly it back with me.

I do find airbeds a bit of a necessary evil though. I would happily spend money on a decent sleeping mat but my problem is that as I sleep on my side, mats can be very uncomfortable. Airbeds are good for a decent nights sleep but they tend not to last very long before they start leaking which is a terrible waste. That and the weight of the things!

Don't know about those but I have a thermarest and LOVE IT.  I generally tend to pass out rather than go to sleep, so its always served me well. Never woke up too hot or too cold.

I had one of these in 2017, and it made a significant difference on those hot mornings.

We are trying to buy items that will last a number of years, firstly it's better economics and secondly it's a lot less waste. These will get used a lot more.

Looks okay, but the wheels seem very small. Would they not just break?

Current one we have used since 2014 is a stand-up fishing trolley. Only problem with that is, I used to just take my stuff, but have been going with my girlfriend the last couple of years and it's too small for both of us

Depends on how much weight you put in, We are going to do a couple of runs with it.

The issue I want to address for myself this year is that of a bag on site. Last time out, our group took it in turns to carry a back pack with them loaded with drinks etc. We usually just took a BIG bottle of spirits to be fair and bought beers from bars - but wondering if there is an alternative to a bag...

Probably not that'll will be easier, thus answering my own ramblings!
