  1. Ooh there's a few grumpy so and so's about for a Saturday night. Cheer up you miserable feckers, you're going to a massive party in only 115 days time - either that or you're not and you should be getting your resale or volunteering arse in gear. Other than that, it's gone a bit like the ads in Smash Hits or NME. We get it, you like band x but not band y. Maybe they'll both show up on different stages? Life is rich with possibility 😘

  2. Got my ticket. 1st Pukkelpop in 5 years.

  3. It never ceases to amaze me how quite a few folks seem to have a refusal to accept others might like different music to them and just cos they don't like a band they label them as awful (other words are available) and dismiss the opinions of those who like them. We all like different music - nothing wrong with that - and I just don't get the often very strong 'anger' towards music some like but you do not in places like this.

  4. Grainy 2019 footage from my archives, HAAI dropping Nathan Micay - The Party We Could Have Still stands as some of the most stunning 3D mapping I've been able to see. https://imgur.com/a/ES7PwJp

  5. Got our tickets so it's my son, his girlfriend (1st timer and will also be her 18th birthday on the Friday!) and obviously me! The friends we go with every year also got theirs today so should be a good squad of us present again. 70% of combis gone but that post was a few hours ago. Really surprised but pleased that it's selling so well and we've only got a quarter of the line up!

  6. Also... I don't see why we're f**king about. Just get the Pet Shop Boys on the blower. Would be the biggest Pyramid party of all time.

  7. Don't know if this is of interest but just coming away from an Everything Everything album launch gig in Leeds and the sound engineer said they weren't playing but he was doing the sound for Bloc Party, didn't get chance to ask where though.

  8. Jarvis Cocker teases more Pulp shows and discusses new project ‘Biophobia’ (nme.com) It's at the bottom of this piece but Jarvis says that Pulp will be touring both this and next year. Could be interesting to see where these shows will appear, and indeed if Glasto is on the list.

  9. That sounds like a bit of a cliquey answer to a new person asking that question tbh.

  10. Probably should have stopped at ‘opinions’

  11. Just in general, they haven't got it (if acts are sent it as a matter of course). I've given names of who I know about to @Avalon_Fields, they're on the rumours page.

  12. FWIW - The PSB were the best act I’ve ever seen on The Other. Amazing sound and great crowd - I was 3/4 back and it was party central.

  13. I sent them an email and received my tickets in 5 minutes. So here we go!

  14. Yep there's only a small difference - that's why I was quite precise (and accurate) with what I said. My basic point is that it's far too early to be getting impatient. You'll only end up frustrating yourself if it ends up being another 4 weeks (I don't think it'll be that long, but it can't be ruled out - especially if they're trying to fill a vacant headline spot). I'm reasonably confident that we'll get a small number of names on Thursday when Emily is at Oxford (she has history of dropping names at things like that), so hopefully that'll keep people going for a bit.

  15. As is normal behaviour at this stage in proceedings, I'm offering everyone on the virtual meet a guest spot on the podcast. Have to doing them weekly at this rate

  16. Weird take. The only reason they weren't the greatest thing of 2022 was because of Macca.

  17. @Avalon_FieldsFor the rumours page. Fontaines DC, Mavis Staples, Dexys and King Krule are all Park Friday. Fontaines headlining.

  18. dab up = playing glasto dumb down = no longer playing glasto its then used for other things that are similar e.g. if i returned my ticket i'd have is as dumb as me wish i had gone to PSB, bicep were an amazing end to the weekend but haven't ever seen PSB and probably never will!

  20. Yes on next album if similar quality would definitely put her in contention. Would like to see the festival to get back to their policy in the 90’s of taking chances on more contemporary artists. Festivals keep complaining about not having many headliner options so I think they need to go back to creating them.

  21. Anyone know anything about Maribou State's new album - release date/tour dates etc? Would like to see them on the farm.

  22. @Trufflehound I'd be buying tickets regardless, looks like no problem selling it in if you don't decide to go

  23. It we're bringing a Legend back for another stab at it, although it's too late now, Paul Simon but with his old mate Art. Cut out the complaining about being ill from Simon and the poetry from Garfunkel and it would be an all timer.

  24. Can someone explain the “d@b up” / “d@b down” vernacular to me?

  25. I heard this week that someone involved with one of the acts that are playing has no idea when the line-up is coming out. Basically if the act knows, they will know. Now given they all have that "I'm/We're Playing Glastonbury" gif ready to go, and we know Avalanches had it at least 12 hours early as they tweeted it early from the wrong time-zone, I'd say it ain't coming tomorrow. I'm sticking with my prediction of 8am Tuesday*. *until 08:01 Tuesday.

  26. We had seen them a few weeks before so knew what to expect. They didn’t disappoint . Certainly was party time.

  27. That's similar to me tbf in being a recent convert to their cause through what they're doing now. Wasn't fussed about some of the earlier stuff at first due to not being in that groove but saw that they had Bloc Party & Foals as support acts last year, who I do like, and did like the sonic territory of the This is Why singles when I gave them a spin, which lead me into discovering and liking more of what I found.

  32. Just heard eFestivals is top of the search results for Glastonbury 2024 line-up, so we must be confusing the entire planet! Trying to keep up with all of this is cracking me up, but thanks to those who’ve dropped some ace info.

  34. I have no reason to believe that Dua on the Pyramid will be any different to the pap we watched last night, which was similar to when I saw her in John Peel. Record company mass marketing is the success here. And we’re all called grumpy old men for not buying in to the overrated hype.

  36. You say labour will do the same without really anything to back that up...just that you want change from what we have...but politics is politics, and as long as humans are in charge you're always going to get this sort of thing..even if they have a nice green logo behind them. Also, lots of people do want change, but not the change that you might like...hence Brexit, Corbyn, Reform and Galloway.

  38. Hopefully they still have the original plans but yeah, v2.0 sounds most likely. As long as it retains the same effect (and of course, sound), we'll be good. My only concern now is how busy it'll be. Another of the great things about was the space to be able to dance. Never too packed, never empty. Always felt right like the right balance at peak times.

  39. Pretty miserable in this thread so think I'll come in with a new suggestion. I've just been to see Rick Astley in Manchester, and I reckon we should just say f**k it and have him back on the farm and give him the headline slot he deserves

  41. Yes - for some. Millions in fact. I thought I would inject a little bit of happiness into a five page thread of people watching something having decided beforehand to be annoyed by it. The ‘everything is awful because it’s not made for me bore.’ The most boring type of bore.

  42. Why don't they just blooming update the poster with it if they are going to do that 🤣

  46. Its a well placed moan and one that definitely deserves a bit of looking into for more groups of volunteers. There's a bit of a push towards volunteers being outside the fence, which i personally really dont mind - i like being able to drive and have my car in the field next to the campsite, and i also like the quieter air of hubbub that means sleep isnt too tricky - for me the placing of the oxfield is just about perfect. I'd struggle to sleep if it were notably louder, and can definitely see that as a a problem for onsite camping volunteers. Some people think being moved outside the fence is a snubbing and an extra pain in the arse, and there's some kind of truth in that, but its swings and roundabouts. My only real moan is getting fed up going up Muddy Lane at the end of every day, it needs a travelator with some seats for workers with knacked feet! I do need to get better at prioritising rest immediately after a shift - i just want to get out and about, but my feet are tired after standing for eight hours and there i am charging around and standing more, and wondering why its hard getting up and down from the camping bed . . .

  47. Good news! My wife Sarah was diagnosed with breast cancer last October. She has had operations and they have removed the lump and lymph nodes. She starts chemotherapy tomorrow and after discussion with her consultant they have planned her treatment and have confirmed she’ll be able to attend this year. After diagnosis and procuring tickets we have been worried about all sorts as you can imagine and she really was clinging onto being able to go it’s great news for her. Obviously in the great scheme of things going to Glastonbury is a minor thing but it’s lifted her massively. She is resisting my wig suggestions though.
