The number of young people watching, and loving, Elton I think puts this argument to bed. At discos/parties/pubs when Madonna is played it gets the whole room going, young and old.5 points

Whether it’s PJ or not, the best thing they could announce tomorrow is a return to IFEMA2 points

Because of the creepy power dynamics that he used for his benefit obviously. For example as a professor you are usually not allowed to have consensual relationships with students, even if you don't grade them. And especially not hitting them up via instagram, inviting them over and promising them things, that have something to do with your and their position, so completely misusing your power over them.2 points

Win Butler has already admitted to doing things that would make most of us lose their jobs, that's not even about allegations. Whether that are some bands that are more boring or creepier than them is irrelevant.2 points

As a rule, personal attacks against other posters are not allowed and will be deleted. Generally, the only thread in which this rule is enforced is this one. This thread is nearly three years old, and the dynamic between regular posters is well established. It’s a thread in which you persist in posting in a deliberately provocative way, often knowingly and deliberately winding up others. While that’s not against any existing rules, posting in that manner will obviously result in certain reactions. As mods, we keep that context in mind. You posted that Palestinians brought the suffering they’re experiencing “on themselves”. You’re entitled to your opinion of course, but it will be of no surprise to you that it was met with an angry response. The response was not a personal attack but an expression of anger at your position by somebody you've admitted in the past you enjoy winding up. In keeping your original post up, we also decided not to remove any reaction it caused, although we would have removed any attack levelled against you personally. If you would like to stop reporting the number of posts you have in recent weeks, it would help if you could post in a less inflammatory manner and if not, accept that some people will disagree and do so in no uncertain terms.2 points

London Grammar just announced for Latitude Festival in UK towards end of July. I would LOVE them to come to Sziget.2 points
-
Someone wrote on Sziget's facebook post that from these clues only 2 acts are using instruments & that's worrying for a live music festival. I have to agree with him tbh.2 points

Not saying that the festival is becoming for the younger crowd but the popularity has grown massively in the last few years, especially in the 18-30 category who attend. Me being one of them couldn’t care less for Madonna as I’m sure most my age group don’t either2 points

Does anyone really think that if Hamas hadn't broken the ceasefire (assuming they actually did), there wouldn't still be fighting now? Israel want to finish the job regardless. The ceasefire served a useful purpose for them but anyone who believes it would have lead to a longer cessation of violence is living in a dream world. I saw a representative of the Israeli government say on the news last week that they regard Gaza of part of Israel. I think this is how it's all going to end. Oh, and I can't see the difference between shooting babies in the head and blowing them to bits with high explosives to be honest. There's no moral high ground there.2 points

Yea after today’s announcement we have just purchased deer shed tickets much smaller festival but really good line up this year lots of kids stuff todo aswell . So will be interesting to compare.1 point

That's always going to be the way isn't it? Any artist would charge a premium to play just one festival, because of the fixed costs of playing at all over the Summer. So, we end up with artists doing festival tours, and of course that means that there are the same people all over. Given that Mad Cool have been very similar to other festivals in the past (albeit they do have one of, if not the "biggest" line up), I'd expect most of the names that appear to be the same as the ones we've already seen.1 point

From what's about so far, probably something like QOTSA, Fred Again (think those two are nailed on), Stormzy, Sam Smith possibly Lana Del Rey. Subs/High spots could be bands like Offspring, London Grammar, possibly Noah Kahan as his dates fit. I still think CDW will be one of the closers.1 point

That's really not what happened. I really don't care what is their marriage arrangement. Would a teacher, social worker, police officer, nurse, restaurant waiter, etc would still have a job if he sent pictures of his genitals to multiple of his students, patients, clients, etc on Instagram. No. So why would it be different for musicians? And that's not even considering the additional allegations.1 point

Kalorama - you have to find an airbnb in Lisbon, it's the best. Paredes de Coura - camp at the festival and feel the nature of the festival.1 point

Did you see some videos from Corona Capital show? I think some new songs worked very well, and the band is still delivering a great show. But, if we are going too much off topic, we can stop discussing AF here.1 point

Arcade Fire are maybe on their lowest in popularity since around Neon Bible, We was far from a commerical success and their tours have seen attendance drop continously. Don't get me wrong, I used to love them (ffs I have the Funeral cover tattoo'd on my ribs) but their last relevant material is from 10 years ago. And doing victory lap tours on older material really is fine, but with integral band members leaving, making it an ever-increasing Win Butler project and him having behaved so despicably in the past years, I just don't care for them anymore. And this feeling is echoed by all my friends who used to love them. They are just gonna go down the Smashing Pumpkins path: Legends of their time, whose output at some point was just hardcore-fan service and an excuse to tour the old stuff, being booked for upper middle-slots at fests.1 point

It’s truly shocking . I mean I’m no fan of George Ezra but I get why they booked him last year kids/older women love him etc etc . But I literally am struggling to see who in their right mind wants to see Keane and kasabian headline a festival in 2024 . I’d love to see down with there booker and see there thought process1 point

Jesus Christ. My brain still connects Latitude to being that cool alt indie festival of the late 2000s. Seeing this announcement compared to any of those is truly grim stuff. Pound-for-pound (literally), that's the worst line-up of 2024 so far by a fair way.1 point
-
Yes, it is horrific. Not sure watching local news in Manchester would cheer me up though!1 point
-
Agreed. It’s like a line up from the Stone Age. Still at least with Duran Duran and Kasabien, the strangled cat appreciators will be happy. id really like to see London Grammar but not sure I’d pay 300.00 and drive across the country for the privilege. maybe there’s better to come.1 point

Wind your neck in, you're not the moral crusader you think you are. Easy enough to just ignore someone, but instead you have to respond like a child. Hope you do get warned/blocked for a while, you clearly need a break from this place. Was only two months ago you had pretty much the same stance as Barry anyway, so not sure why you're so opposed now.1 point

6 mins, I've seen the heavy rumours and it seems to be Liam Gallagher, HAIM and Duran Duran as headliners with Sigrid also on line-up. EXCITING!1 point

I don't know what criteria you use for relevance, but I think people tend to oversee the acclaim and popularity The New Abnormal received, including Grammy win etc. The Adults are Talking alone has much more streams than all songs of WE combined and more than twice as many as any Arcade Fire song ever released. A lot of my friends, who are in their 20's started to listen to The Strokes around that time, because of that song. Obviously streams aren't everything, but I would also argue the critical reception of The New Abnormal was better than Everything Now and We, so I don't know on what your statement is based.1 point

Watched some of Shane’s funeral, including this great rendition of Fairytale of New York by Glen Hansard, Lisa O’Neill, the Pogues etc. If you like Irish music go see Lisa when you can, she is amazing live.1 point

I realise that you are prodding for a reaction*, but the phrase 'slapped the wife around' has no place on this forum and neither does equating violent, domestic abuse with non payment of parking fines. *Is this what the young people call trolling?1 point
