Looking at setlists from earlier this year when not specifically with Kenny Segal he seems to cover the whole range of his discography. More from Aethiopes than anything, a couple from Maps and one or two Armand Hammer. Given how prolific he is, I wouldn't be surprised if there isn't a new album by June!

Pretty sure he'll play whatever he likes with or without a soundcheck, but guessing not Maps or AH. Can't believe he is in the tiniest font and is def in my top 5 'must sees'.

I realise that you are prodding for a reaction*, but the phrase 'slapped the wife around' has no place on this forum and neither does equating violent, domestic abuse with non payment of parking fines. *Is this what the young people call trolling?

Swings and roundabouts, I guess. I had about 30 realistic targets, Kali Uchis, Lil Yachty, Tainy etc, (not Tom Waits, Kate Bush or Talking Heads!) and I've ended up with only Ammarae, Pulp and Billy Woods. FKA Twigs and Beth Gibbons are unexpected bonuses but despite having a ticket I am struggling to justify hotels and travel for that line up.

Nothing against any of the artists per se, but The National, Phoenix. Disclosure and Charli XCX are not special enough for such a quick return. Replace those with (for example) Kylie, Kali, New Jeans, Tainy or any available or affordable artists in some different genres and the line up suddenly looks a bit less one dimensional and a bit more quirky and Primavera. I think there are some quite lazy bookings here. I take back that the line up is awful. It is not awful, but really lacks that Primavera spark. I also take back that the line up reveal was awful. I was wrong again. It was f***ing awful and all concerned should be sacked.

My musical dreams are in tatters as is my 10 year relationship with Primavera Sound after that awful line up reveal of an awful line up. Yes, awful. OK we can all feel disappointed if the names we wanted are not there, but my issue with this line up is its incredible lack of variety and imagination. There are some interesting things here but there is also a lot of very generation specific mediocrity. Nearly all of those larger font names are well past their sell by date, but more importantly where is the stuff that will keep young people interested in the brand and therefore keep it sustainable? Where is the good reggaeton/trap/Latin stuff? Where is the good pop stuff? Where is the Afrobeats? the K Pop? the J Pop? Where is the unexpected legend? or even the unexpected wrong fit curveball? I'm sorry but I just find this line up so monotone, unadventurous and so unPrimavera.

Sorry, but I don’t understand why claiming ignorance of one of the biggest Spanish speaking artists in the world (Bad Bunny) when you are clearly interested in music and planning to go to a festival in Barcelona, is considered funny or even a virtue. Sadly, after headlining Coachella with a really great set, releasing one of the best reggaeton albums ever (Un Verano Sin Ti, which is the perfect starting point if genuinely interested), working with a host of international artists (Drake, Gorillaz, Rosalia etc) and having a huge sell out stadium tour of the US and Latin America, I fear the Bunny is now too big for Primavera, and that is a huge pity. He certainly fits the Primavera brand. (One of Pitchfork’s albums of the year). Similarly, C Tangana, is not an ‘easy’ option as the Spanish crowd pleaser. According to a new film, Esta Ambicion Desmedida, his last tour, which was absolutely stupendous for anyone with a love of music, almost bankrupted him. I live in hope of a one-off Primavera slot but can’t see him doing a full tour for a while. I love The Cure to pieces, having first seen them in the late 70’s in Eric’s Liverpool; but would be far more excited about Bad Bunny or C Tangana headlining than Mr Smith and Co. I really hope Primavera keeps pushing the emphasis on the new rather than the past and hope that this year (my 7th) will have a truly exciting forward-looking bill in terms of alternative hip hop, Latin music, K & J pop and Afrobeats. (OK and because I’m nice, some blokes playing guitars too if you insist).

Any thoughts on Burna Boy or Asake as possible Afrobeats top tier? Also Amaarae and a second chance for Tems? From alternative hip hop what chance Billy Woods or McKinley Dixon? Spanish/Latin names in mix must be Rauw Alejandro, Quevedo, Bizarrap, Kali Uchis and Karol G? And in terms of very oldies, I see The Only Ones, were down to do some gigs recently. No idea really but I like the speculation as we move into autumn.

Ticket bought. Please can I have Pulp, Missy Elliott, C Tangana, Iggy Pop, Kali Uchis, Lil Yachty, Amaarae, Tems, Squid oh and Frank Ocean, Bad Bunny and Portishead as usual.

I don't like the phrase when talking about music or Primavera but in the past 2 years there seems to be a definite 'marketing strategy'. That appears to be to pack the Thursday with more alternative/muso/Pitchfork stuff to attract an international audience and traditional Primavera supporters in Spain. Keep these people happy and interested by spreading 'interesting' stuff throughout days 2 and 3 but go for more mainstream headliners on Friday and then aim at a more pop/Spanish language focus for Saturday. This makes sense given that Thursday and Friday are normal work days in Spain and most interested locals would look at Saturday as the best day to attend if not doing the full festival. If that is the strategy, then something like Pulp and P J Harvey headlining Thursday would be feasible. Perhaps The Cure and Travis Scott on Friday then someone like Robyn or SZA on the Saturday with a big Spanish name. Hopefully this would be C Tangana if he has new material and is touring next year. I saw him twice last year on the El Madileno tour; it was a stunning show, would easily sell out Saturday and would also give him more access to an international audience. Obvs my record at predicting Primavera headliners is diabolical so none of this will happen.

Pretty gutted with that switch as the Sevdaliza - St Vincent - Kelela - Tokischa - Rosalia run was pretty much a highlight for me. Still, lots of people seem happy. Liturgy are just not going to fit into that run, so it will be welcome chill time. Takes all sorts doesn't it? -

Sorry people, I did not frame that previous post very well. I just feel that there is so much good stuff on this year that a different approach to preparing for the inevitable clashes is to think about acts that I really won't mind missing. No offence intended to any acts mentioned, I certainly don't 'hate' any of the artists.
