  2. That was the last album. This album is a ‘fuck the environment’ vibe.

  5. Is there any possibility of ' the national' and ' the war on drugs' to show up at 2022? Been coming to rock werchter all the way from India ever since 2017 hoping for the national every year xD

  9. I think that's probably it, in a nutshell. Some people have a very high regard for their own taste, and seem especially triggered when artists they dislike are popular. In my experience, many Radiohead fans are especially guilty of this. There's also a weird closet anti-woke thing going on against Chris Martin - it's never explicit, but whenever he attracts criticism there's often mutterings about his social and environmental conscience. It's weird. Can't the guy be a talented musician and socially cognisant? I don't see how that's annoying, personally. To each their own, I guess.

  10. I know this is a good thing, but it still makes me hate Chris Martin.

  11. I'm still going to believe Swift is headlining until they've packed The Park away on Sunday night and she hasn't popped out for a secret Folkmore set.

  13. 35 days between his last holiday and this one. The last one was while the withdrawal from Kabul took place. Also been on several other holidays this year. Everyone deserves a holiday but he has a track record of being on holiday at the worst possible times - not a coincidence I'd suggest. Combine that with his reputation for doing bugger all work (not turning up to 5 COBRA meetings at the start of the pandemic, not knowing he has responsibility for pretty much everything as PM, etc). Plus, he should be able to read the fucking room - we can't get fuel, price of food has shot up, energy crisis, supply crisis - and he's on an all expenses paid jolly. c**t. .

  18. Posting this here, as Roskilde is somewhat comparable to Glastonbury in size and scope. Apparently they received 5000 tickets for refunds, out of 80,000. Everyone else rolled over their ticket. There was a waitlist option for people interested in the resale tickets, and the waitlist was bigger than the amount of tickets available, and those tickets are now gone. They are also making 5000 additional "under 25" tickets available, that will go on sale in November. Proof of age required. I am without a ticket for Glastonbury 2022, hoping for a resale ticket. The small Roskilde resale is not good news, but was to be expected I suppose.

  19. Really? Only 16? Rammstein had over 60 lorries for their 2019 tour. Bands that usually headline large festivals use around 10 lorries (sometimes even more) just for getting all equipment to the festival (I know that from people who run a festival in Czechia).

  23. Much like U2, Nickelback are hated because of how big and ubiquitous they are, and because they champion worthy causes. People just love to hate things other people love. (cue predictable reply: "No, I don't hate them because other people love them, I hate them because they're shite!") It seems you can be an actual c**t (like Chris Martin for example) and get far less hate than Chad Kroeger gets. I think Nickelback are a great band (even if their recent records have been a bit patchy) and will definitely be getting tickets for next summer. That said, invite them to headline Glastonbury.

  24. My issue with Coldplay (and it is my issue, not theirs) is that they used to make music I like, now they don't. I have trouble comprehending how they went from Rush of Blood To The Head (side one of which has an amazing run of songs) to the dreadful stuff they've defecated out since Mylo Xyloto Their 2011 set was superb, I didn't bother in 2016 and thank God for that. I've watched it back and it has its moments but it also has Barry Gibb. Anyhoo. I don't want them there because there's only been two festivals since they last did it, none if you count Live From Worthy Farm.

  27. Roskilde in particular is a rite-of-passage thing in Denmark. Kids start going when they're 15, and go back for the rest of their lives. Kids who would have started going a few years ago have missed out two years in a row. Some of my mates in CPH have been going every year for almost 25 years now (I'm pushing 40 now).

  28. Very impressed with all the sustainability initiatives around the Coldplay tour. They're going to be the first band on this scale doing this sort of thing and it'll force the hand of every other stadium act to be doing similar things, which can only be a good thing. No, it's a real thing. A few companies have already been working on dancefloors that help to power clubs. The movement and motion from people on top of tiles – in this case presumably layed on the standing section of their gigs – is passed through and stored in a generator. It won't be generating the entire Coldplay gig but it'll go some way towards helping power eg the catering.

  29. I've seen Coldplay 4 times in total which is mad considering although I like them I wouldn't class myself as a hardcore fan. I can't say I've ever regretted it nor would I pass up the opportunity to see them again. The musical snobbery towards them is somewhat bizarre. The longevity of the band speaks for itself.

I think Coldplay are a great band (even if their recent records have been a bit patchy) and will definitely be getting tickets for next summer. 35. I think what CM said in 2019 was that they wouldn't tour that particular album until they found a more sustainable way to do so. Little did he know that within six months they wouldn't have much choice anyway! The actual interview is here. It's also quite an interesting read on carbon footprint. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-50490700.amp

  36. I think the specific words were more along the lines of they needed to rethink how they did them, in order to be more sustainable. Not handing out millions of single use plastic led wristbands would be a start.

  44. No likes? No upvotes? Scoundrels. Reckon you need to post this in the main forum mate. What do you mean this isn't a direct message? Ah shi... 😜😘 😍 That's what we're talking about!! Ha! Was a celebration of the Gump run, with the idea to run until I was pretty tired and I'd go home. That happened after 42 hours without sleep!! I tagged a fundraiser on afterwards as a few people asked if I was and I thought "why not?" For my USA heroes, Peace Direct and the WWF. https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?pageId=1321110 (If anyone won the Euromillions tonight, or found 50p in an old jacket) My feeling when I saw the hill at Sutton Manor...
