Proposal to drop Kneecap and replace them with Godspeed You! Black Emperor.

If anyone's heard the new album you know what I mean by this

You got me excited and made me think there was a new album now. Not last year's!

I think it's likely that the statements they've made in the videos doing the rounds from their gigs meet the threshold for prosecution so I can see their upcoming gigs being cancelled while court proceedings are ongoing.

All a shame as I like their music and was really looking forward to seeing them.

Why would their gigs be cancelled? They are Irish/uk citizens. Plenty of promoters and venues will be happy to host them.

🤣 mate, their music is dogshit. They're not philosophers.

why does me saying i think saying kill your local MP is awful have anything to do with my views on the middle east?

I’ll ignore your subjective view on music.

I made no opinion on your views on the Middle East. What I’m highlighting is the fake concern about MP safety by people who said nothing about the Corbyn incident and who say nothing about the genocide in Palestine. The genocide and Kneecap’s opinion on it being the reason we are talking about MPs safety.

The “evil butchery” being committed by the IDF a few years ago?

Thanks for the reminder.  Yes, it's not just the genocide being committed in full view of the world at the moment: these IDF atrocities go back many, many years.  Let's look at a few highlights to remind ourselves:

  • Use of white phosphorous munitions against civilian targets (e.g. 2009, 2023)
  • Routine use of collective punishment by destroying homes/villages and withholding food, water, medical aid etc
  • Routine killing and beating of children, e.g. 10,000 shot by IDF whilst protesting during the first 'intifada'.

Top tip: I'd try and steer this debate away from trying to defend the activities of the IDF if I were you.  There's a lot of brave people from the likes of major news organisations, the UN, Amnesty International, the Red Cross/Crescent etc etc. who've risked their lives to bring back testimony and footage of a brutal regime acting unchecked over many years.  It's all there to be seen with a few clicks on a keyboard.  It might not be working quite so well for you these days, but calling 'antisemite' and expressing faux outrage at a punk band is probably still your best tactic.  (When 100% of the public have grown wise to that, you could try yelling 'squirrel!')

I’m no way near intelligent or informed enough to have a reasoned view on all this but is the video (from two or three years ago) about the Tory MP that different to Farage saying he won Brexit ‘without a shot being fired’ days after the murder of Jo Cox?

Pretty sure comedians say worse about politicians of all parties every night?

The fact it is from 2023 and is deflecting attention from the real issue shows somebody is digging (or clutching). Didn’t Badenoch lose a court case to them?

I think their statement is good. Hopefully stood a culture war before it starts.

I think it was an appropriate time to make a statement, and personally I think it's a good one.

It needed to happen as things were getting silly, and that includes some of the comments on here.

The Yanks did not like being told some home truths and a campaign started to try and destroy the bands reputation and get them cancelled.

Well done to Kneecap for standing up and being counted.

It’s important they have apologised to the MPs families and stated they do not support terrorist organisations. On a related issue the festival has asked all who buy a hospitality ticket to add fifty quid as a donation to Warchild, a charity that is currently working hard to alleviate the suffering of the innocent child victims in Gaza and other war zones. That’s in keeping with the festival’s charitable heritage.

The whole we didn't mean any actual harm to anyone and have never supported Hamas or Hezbollah thing.

If it comes down to a legal situation, that is indeed what they'll need to prove.

But then I'm no lawyer so no idea what the arguments pro and against may be.  Certainly they've been more consistently vocal about other subjects like robbing, vandalism, drug-dealing and republican and loyalist militias than they ever have about Hamas.

I watched the Louis Theroux doc on the BBC last night and I wonder why the outrage is directed at Kneecap.

    • So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.
    • I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub
