There doesn't seem to be a thread on this, so I thought I'd start one. I can't be arsed doing a spreadsheet to decide a total list, as that's a bit too much like my day job (if anyone else wants to, be my guest). But I'm always interested in other people's lists in case I've missed a few gems. Anyway, here's my top ten:

10 - Lisa O'Neil - All of this is chance

9 - The Lottery Winners - A.R.T

8 - Sufjan Stevens - Javelin

7 - Beirut - Hadsel

6 - The Mary Wallopers - Irish rock'n'roll

5 - Boygenius - The record

4 - Jason Isbell - Weathervanes

3 - The Rural Alberta Advantage - The rise and the fall

2 - The Hold Steady - The Price of progress

1 - Laura Cantrell - Just like a rose

Divorce are f**king brilliant. Best new indie band about. Hope they’re on the farm next year

Between them, English Teacher, New Dad and Sorry, I actually have hope for indie music for the first time in years. (With thanks to Working Mens Club and the Orielles for keeping the candle burning in the wasteland.)

Actually I'm talking out of my arse. I forgot loads... Idles, Fontaines, Yard Act etc. I just never got super into any of them. But the mince pies have definitely gone to my head.

Been a fairly quiet year for me, nothing to do with the music just not been massively into listening to new stuff. Very much found comfort in the familiar.

Of the stuff I have listened to, #1 of the year is undoubtedly Dreamer by Nabihah Iqbal. Had that on loop quite a bit.

Honourable mentions in no particular order:

The Lottery Winners - Anxiety Replacement Therapy
Everything But The Girl - Fuse
Temples - Exotico
M83 - Fantasy
GoGo Penguin - Everything Is Going To Be OK
The Hold Steady - The Price Of Progress
CVC - Get Real
Jessie Ware - That! Feels Good!
We Are Scientists - Lobes

i know what you mean its about where i am.

i've had to find stuff to prompt me to find new tunes:- i've found add toplaylist on radio 4 very enjoyable and good at exposing me to different stuff of high quality as well as for reminding me of some other stuff that wasn't in my mind.
