Why are we so convinced Olivia Rodrigo would headline?

I would say there are not too many acts out there that Glastonbury could realistically get and put on the same day that would be a bigger get than her. She is either a headliner or not playing IMO

Well I've spent the best part of 1 hour trying to see if i overlooked the 1975 when trying to listen to them the first time around.

The answer is no. However, if they were to headline, as i have said, all is not lost as there are about a billion other stages

Also.................Got to get a ticket first

Thankfully Glastonbury's bar is set above having shite like Metro Boomin, Kid Laroi, Sublime, Fisher, Empire of the Sun, Lil Baby and Odesza on the line below outright headliners.

That's probably one of your best posts. We know that Suprefan will be on here telling us Coachella is the best lineup of the year no matter who is on it so we're just waiting for it really.

Empire of the sun are awesome!! I'd rather they headlined over the 3 we look like getting 🤣

Yeah man they need to get Royal Blood, Wizkid, Two Door Cinema Club, D-Block Europe and Major Lazer in those slots.

I implore any 1975 doubters to watch their Madison Square Garden show from their last tour:

Why don't they play Chocolate anymore? Surely up there with their best.

I don't think it shows them being in no question of doing it, I think their tour sakes previously show that.

It makes reasonably frequent appearances even if it’s not a lock at every show these days.

I’ve long had a theory that they were waiting to headline Glastonbury to play Antichrist live. Based on absolutely nothing but I’d die if it happened.

They did play it on the first leg of that tour but not on the second. They have been playing it for 12 years so they might feel like giving it a rest for a bit. I want to hear it all the time, personally. Proper banger.

The 1975, Olivia Rodrigo and Fred again.. would be a banging set of headliners and I’d have a lonely time in my living room watching all three of them each night.

Christ that's an underwhelming trio for me, but would fully understand the rationale if it was them. Would likely see Olivia (even as a middle aged white man who's niece's would be insanely jealous if I did) as she's got some cracking stuff from the little I've heard. Amazing voice and sounds sincere and emotive, lyrically. But the other two do f**k all for me. As we know, all that means is I'd be free to explore the wealth of other acts on show - the best thing about the whole festival, and the very first bit of advice my Glasto-veteran friend gave to me in 2011 when I first went; "don't worry about the headliners or chasing the main acts if you're not actually interested, use that time to explore...".

Not kept with the chat here in a while but heard on very good authority that Fred Again is headlining

Interesting and I know you get info and are solid so it's not rubbish. The latest info was that Fred pulled out with The 1975 taking over so is this potentials wrong?

It's the song that makes me think this is The 1975. It's kinda that song I remember from a band I'm not bothered about but I wouldn't turn it off.

I think it's likely that if Fred was in The 1975 info is not as real as thought. Unless things have really gone sound there is no reason for The 1975 to have been pulled in if Fred was still in. The really bad outlook would be that Olivia has said no and Fred has been asked to reconsider for her absence. The 1975, Sam and Fred would be the worse set I've seen the festival book.

Yeah I can't disagree that The 1975, Olivia and Fred is poor. But Sam instead of Fred is worse.

...is the most ‘I’m about to headline Glastonbury’ song since Ed Sheeran released Castle on the Hill.

Nothing has ever said "I'm about to headline Glastonbury" less to me than Castle on the bastard Hill... Horses for courses I suppose.

    • Absolutely love her record, System. Definitely an album that rewards a bit of commitment.   She's right on my must-see list. Hoping she's in the Walled Garden, as I think her sound might be a bit muddy if she's early-ish in Far Out.   Ben
    • Same here, I kept trying to go on A View From My Seat to see if each block was worth it. So vague!
    • Ok, I’ve had time to process the experience now, so here is my review.   The good Barcelona - what a beautiful place! What lovely people! The city was like another headliner. Stayed in El Poblenou, and the bars, cafes and restaurants were perfect. Avalanches - Absolutely spectacular, euphoric set. Fantastic stage. Possibly enhanced by substances that I timed right, for a change. Added bonus that I don’t really remember the queue. The Cure - I’ve been a fan for 34 years, and never got round to seeing them, so this was a dream come true. The XX - The sound was exceptional. The lights and setlist perfect, giving each member their moment. Was really loud where I was standing (between the front and the sound desk), but i didn’t notice any chatters - even during the quieter moments. Also loved Men I Trust, .bd. , Big Thief, NewDad and Gorillaz. The food within Parc Del Fòrum was also a lot better than I was expecting.   The bad People talking non-stop throughout some of the sets, and shouting to be heard over the music. I had to move 3 times during Wet Leg just to be able to hear the band over the crowd. It’s probably an age thing, but I just don’t understand it. You’ve paid how much to watch these acts, and now you’re standing with your back to the stage, missing the music and ruining the experience for everyone else? Odd behaviour.   The weather apocalypse on Thursday. I genuinely thought I would be able to tough it out. I couldn’t. Left after Geese. The lack of communication from Primavera didn’t help.   Whilst it was lovely to be by the sea, and the sunsets were very pretty, the site is a bit…concrete-y, isn’t it? I kind of longed for some grass and trees. Often found ourselves standing on the steps by the Adidas yard by some bamboo. This was probably a subconscious need for some nature. The fact that some of the nature included cockroaches did not negatively affect the experience.   My daughter, for running away when she saw the drug dogs in the queue on Thursday, meaning that I lost her for the whole evening. She hid her stash under a bench, and it miraculously survived the storms.   Also, can someone explain the point in having a wristband, when you still have to show your ticket every time you enter and leave the site?   Finally, I would like to nominate myself as one of the bad things about this year’s Primabera. I should have done Primavera a lot better. It was my first one, so I’m still learning, but I think I left too early on the Thursday. Left after the Cure on Friday, so I would be full of energy on Saturday, and then barely made it to the end of Gorillaz anyway, meaning I missed Overmono, Skrillex, Skullcrusher, Kneecap, and a few more I would have liked to see.   All in all Amazing lineup. Decent food options. Cupra and Cupra Pulse stages were very impressive. Weather was perfect for 3 out of the 4 days i attended.   It was always likely to be a ‘one and done’ for me, but we had a blast, even if I am starting to get too old for all this.
    • That Wednesday Razzmatazz slot is one of the best/prime slots!
    • If they fancy chucking something together last knockings, i'm up for it! 😄 Got to get a cat sitter, but i'm 95% there
