After the 00Z gave us the F.E.A.R., what will become of us on the 06Z? Let's find out!

Highs of 20-22 on a lovely, dry Wednesday.

image.thumb.png.4d53a974285b5a848747bc6cb6f90712.png

You can see that high pressure is in a much better place on this right (most recent on the right.)

image.thumb.png.3c8788cc165749706fed30505efc3f3a.png

THURSDAY

Completely dry, highs of 21-23.

Much improved pressure picture on Saturday, with the pocket of lower pressure pushed out. Most recent on the right.

image.thumb.png.b4f42ae4b48c775cf64a3f2abd6123ae.png

SUNDAY

A tiny dribble of rain around in the evening. But highs again of 23-25.

image.thumb.png.30c96bbe5085e9fa1ec6ecb018ac96d8.png

SUMMARY

Hooray! A return to a great forecast.

But hold onto your hats, there's still a definite KNIFE EDGE over low pressure vs. high pressure.

I meant the coming Saturday - not the festival itself

Even the festival itself looks risky. On a ridge, but we don't have high pressure. To be fair, that's a risk of a few light showers, not a risk of a downpour. Only 6 sleeps until Countryfile.

As a lurker, a lot of people advising patience as we’re still 10 days out. how many days before can we say with reasonable certainty that this is what the weather will be.

Just so i can decide whether to buy a few wet weather items!

Yesterday morning I woke up and looked at my local weather forecast for the day. It said there was going to be 2 hours of thunder in 2 hours time. We have one very noise sensitive dog who is terrified of thunder so I quickly told my husband we need to get ready and go and get the dogs out as there's going to be 80% chance of thunder in 2 hours time. By the time we were walking I checked the app again (about 30 minutes later) and the thunder had gone and been replaced with light rain. By the time it actually came round we got about 5 minutes of drizzle and it was actually quite warm. I tell you this story to demonstrate that even by the time we get to the festival it will still not be clear what the weather holds in store for us for 5 days. Only somebody completely foolhardy doesn't have some form of preparation for both rain and sun. Regardless of the forecast on the weekend before the festival I will be packing waterproofs, walking boots, sun screen and a handheld fan.

Yeah, it wasn't so bad. Its just tiring being on feet all day. Number one thing is if it's wet, have a chair if you need to take breaks and obviously be considerate in your use of em - people seemed to be at Download.

This wasn't as bad as 2016

Cheers bud. Parts of the site got quite deep on Sunday, and it turned quite sticky after the sun in parts, but I honestly thought it was fine. So many people moaning about it though. 🙈😂

I think this is probably (touch wood) the very worst we could get at Glasto now, unless the models start forecasting some freak storm on their runs in the next few days…

Also, with the sun on Sunday, higher parts of the site, that caught the sun all day, were already like this in the evening!!!

Sat up there on nice dry ground watching Corey Taylor and Machine Head. 🙂

Excellent. All of this. Especially the fact that Corey must be feeling better.

The operational run is somewhat more optimistic than the mean of all runs for the opening of the festival, the precipitation chart shows a number of runs are interested in bringing some rain in.

The met office are slowly getting on board..

Quote

A change to cloudier weather with outbreaks of rain, these most prevalent in the west of the UK, is expected to be well underway by the start of the forecast period. However, this may not last too long, as it continues to look increasingly likely that a drier, warmer, and settled spell will begin to develop later this coming weekend, and into the following week. There is a small chance that this could persist for much of the rest of the period, turning increasingly hot, however by mid-next week a large range of outcomes which also include a small chance of colder, more unsettled weather also become possible. Generally settled, and warmer than average conditions appear most likely.

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
