So for anybody that does both, how does this year's Download compare to an average wet and muddy Glasto? Not the bad bad years, just an average wet and muddy one?

Honestly I didn't think it was too bad... Definitely glad I had the grip of walking boots, the way some people were slipping around in cheap wellies, but other than that, and taking longer to walk around, it was fine.

@Superscallyprobably the best man to do a comparison for you.

Here are the steps I have taken:
Spent £40 a brand new poncho
Bought a dry robe with waterproofing as a secondary option
Bought new waterproof walking boots in case my OTHER pair of waterproof walking boots get too wet
Have brought out the waterproof trousers
Have waterproofed our poptop roof that we won't even be using
Have told all my friends they need to buy waterproof gear
Have several pairs of gaiters saved in my notes folder to order.

I also buried a sausage.

Is this sufficient? Do the Gods want more? I can offer more if needed?

It's absolutely glorious in Somerset today. Hardly a cloud in the sky, slight breeze and dare I say it, some warmth! Won't be hot enough for some but this would be perfect festival weather for me

Although, looking at the webcam, it does appear to be cloudier over the farm than it is 20 miles away. Still lovely though

Still plenty time for forecasts to turn round, then round again, then round again.  Showers are basically hit and miss. That’s why bbc, met office all show % chance of rain at 33%. In other words they arnt sure.

Also the huge positive is the next 7 days forecast on-site. Glorious sunshine low 20's.

That's massively important drying time.

6Z GFS has added some rain for Saturday and dropped it for Wednesday. Messy out in the Atlantic though - it's going to come down how close it gets to the UK, if it stays far enough away, we end up with a scorchio scenario like the ECM.

Yeah, it wasn't so bad. Its just tiring being on feet all day. Number one thing is if it's wet, have a chair if you need to take breaks and obviously be considerate in your use of em - people seemed to be at Download.

This wasn't as bad as 2016

There was a fair amount of rain - Thurs/Friday/Saturday on-site.

I think the people on the ground there now are saying it's pretty dry tbf. The real issue is gonna be the rain (or not) over the festvial now.

There's no rain on the Saturday on the 06Z.

After the 00Z gave us the F.E.A.R., what will become of us on the 06Z? Let's find out!

THROUGH TO GATES OPEN

No rain of any note whatsover and won't be a problem for the ground.

Dry with temps of 19-22 through to Wednesday.

GATES OPEN & WEDNESDAY

Yes! Back to dry for gates open! Massive improvement.

Highs of 20-22 on a lovely, dry Wednesday.

You can see that high pressure is in a much better place on this right (most recent on the right.)

THURSDAY

Completely dry, highs of 21-23.

FRIDAY

Completely dry, highs of 22-24.

SATURDAY

Completely dry, highs of 23-25.

Much improved pressure picture on Saturday, with the pocket of lower pressure pushed out. Most recent on the right.

image.thumb.png.b4f42ae4b48c775cf64a3f2abd6123ae.png

SUNDAY

A tiny dribble of rain around in the evening. But highs again of 23-25.

SUMMARY

Hooray! A return to a great forecast.

But hold onto your hats, there's still a definite KNIFE EDGE over low pressure vs. high pressure.

Thats more like it  😃

    • So bad honestly. I get that bad weather happens but their communication was non existent. When you're managing crowds of tens of thousands of people, it's just not good enough. I left when Massive Attack was cancelled (the first time) and it genuinely did feel unsafe trying to get out. No one knew what was going on, people still sitting in the ground when there were hoards of people trying to leave, no crowd management at all...   I've been to PS enough times to know sometimes you need to just roll with it but this was way worse than "the bar queue was 30 minutes long".    Today will be better but still feel super disappointed.
