Looks like a similar weather  pattern to last year.  Really hope it’s dry for everyone.  Only live a few miles from the site and it’s bloody lovely today.  Mixed emotions as first time in 30 years we didn’t get tickets but I hope everyone going has a fantastic time and roll on 2025

I’ve been every year since 05 (bar ‘13) and I’ve had a proper ticket a handful of times.

There are ways and means of semi-legit getting in. It’s even easier if you’re really local.

Flavoured cider is the absolute worse.

I have recently discovered that the only 0% cider you can get is some flavoured kopperberg shite. You may as well have cordial.

Agree. Brothers cider is the remnants of a nuclear meltdown with added melted pear drops.

Hecks all the way for me. Will be there early Monday morning in that quirky shop on a residential road in Street. The shop is fantastic.

Yes we know but didn’t work out this year.  Gutted as we had the chance to work but dilly dallied around organising and the spaces were taken by other people

Ok, it's time. Time for the first full weather run through of 2024!

THROUGH TO GATES OPEN

There's the threat of a fair bit of rain on Saturday afternoon and evening, but it's then completely dry to gates open. Highs of 20-21 are great for any drying that might be necessary.

GATES OPEN & WEDNESDAY

Very pleasant at 17-18 and dry. Highs of 20-21 through the day.

image.thumb.png.761c672d692fd48bd2b9723b962614ed.png

High pressure is over the UK. Looking good.

image.png.66990ef46b97a1592015fef73f33e0b6.png

THURSDAY

Completely dry, highs of 22.

image.thumb.png.bc7aeea3ce4f765b61ccd4828882e342.png

FRIDAY

Completely dry, highs of 23.

image.thumb.png.0a8b243f4174ef5e6c362956898c5b16.png

SATURDAY

A very small amount of rain around, you wouldn't even notice it. Highs of 22.

image.thumb.png.253561926ee08f65d0b222673970e354.png

Pressure is still in a good place, but not so commanding.

image.png.6ce05da3fd74fa2abfdf218b994aeb4d.png

SUNDAY

Small amount of rain showing, but again this is really insignificant stuff. Highs of 21-22

image.thumb.png.0f6681aebe391c6f88e5987129f5c230.png

There is a pocket of low pressure out in the Atlantic, which is causing the small amount of rain.

image.png.645737f1fadbab2e3c693062671b43e0.png

SUMMARY

A pretty decent run, with perfect festival temperatures.

We do have to watch the weekend, however, we're a long way off any confidence and low pressure still lurking.

We go again at 6pm-ish!

Too much rain.

But a great first effort.

The operational above is abit out of whack with other runs on the 06z

Yeah, shout out Beak! They’ve opened up the taproom so heading there today in an act of solidarity.

Hugely offtopic here of course, but their taproom is a lovely little spot! I also unashamedly love the Gardeners arms, the Snowdrop, and Patch in Lewes - it’s such a good town for a few beers - that’s barely even scratching the surface of great spots for a pint!

I looked back on the 2019 weather thread for the same period and it's looking very similar, rain forecast for the sat/sun before the festival, warm and dry festival week with a chance of a shower towards the Sunday.

Explain in easy terms

The green line is the operational run that bridjj posted the charts for. As you can see it does not have much agreement with other runs. Best to look at the mean (red line) at the moment to spot the overall trend. Once we get down to 168 hours out that's when things will start to firm up.

I’m sure it’s in here somewhere if I look back but what were the day/night temperatures last year? Out of all the festivals I’ve been to I think that was the most perfect, shorts all weekend even at night never too hot and never cold plus practically zero rain (and I was set up by the time it did on the Wednesday)

Time to go with today's 12Z! Let's see what's in store....

THROUGH TO GATES OPEN

Markedly less rain on this run on Saturday afternoon and evening, nothing of concern, and it's then completely dry to gates open. Highs of 20-22 are great for any drying that might be necessary.

GATES OPEN & WEDNESDAY

Warmer on this run. 18-19 for gates open and up to a high of 24. Completely dry.

image.thumb.png.c5464d589ee1044569a7cc6caecb6895.png

High pressure is dominant, but how will it develop?

image.png.a2aff37e9a341675743b43a1a2bb1efb.png

THURSDAY

Completely dry, highs of 23-24 (slightly up).

image.thumb.png.45c7efa28d8c93d3634b013630e32bb7.png

The high pressure is more in command on this run.

image.png.d2942a3942f676dd43777d44deb5dc0a.png

FRIDAY

Completely dry, highs of 23 - same as last run.

image.thumb.png.b6f48d29e4fc9f61d0f82f86678ed0d7.png

SATURDAY

The rain of the last run has completely disappeared. Totally dry with highs of 23. Slightly up.

image.thumb.png.c9d31c2d866f4472691944974b152dbe.png

You can see that on this run (on the right) the high is much stronger than in the previous run (on the left).

image.thumb.png.d52ae642e7e5e713cd17650825969fd1.png

SUNDAY

Completely dry, highs of 24-25.

image.thumb.png.c699523fea1f62d3046b4e06a09f60f1.png

SUMMARY

We have reached just about the perfect forecast, unfortunately it's TOO EARLY for any confidence.

OMFG I want this

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
