I'm surprised to see all the hate for Ed Sheeran on here. He's a mainstream pop singer that constantly gets played on Capital FM and performs the most uninspiring radio friendly music - so he's right up the street of a lot of people on this board.

Ah, on this board people don't denounce artists as shit because of their music, they denounce them because of them being men.

Generalisations are bad...each and every one of them 😉

I’ve a broad taste in music and even if something doesn’t really resonate with me, I wouldn’t immediately declare it to be shit and can often find something in there to at least see why others might love it.  It’s subjective and I get that. However there are a small number of acts who I can find absolutely no merit in whatsoever and find almost unlistenable.  It genuinely surprises me when people declare love for them and I do question it when they do. It’s not me trying push my opinion, rather trying to understand what I’m missing.

Have you ever got an answer? I can’t imagine what it would be. If it’s not for you it’s not for you.

Wow, couldn't have put it better myself.

These days you get arrested and thrown in jail for liking music made by men.

Isn't there some youtube comments section of a clip from  'Are you being served?' where you can post this kind of stuff. You'd fit right in.

You've completely missed the joke.

Polarisation and extreme positions are pretty much the online model of the last couple of years, though. It’s Godwin’s law writ large. Ed Sheeran is either absolutely amazing and incredible, or an actual aural genocide, and there’s only two positions to take with no shades of grey anywhere in the middle. There’s no middle any more, so pick your zone and get to it!

PLUS, it gives people the chance to be a bit more lucid, descriptive and interesting in their slaggings-off. I don’t think even 5% of the hyperbole is actually intended, it’s just people being entertaining. I might just be speaking for me here to be fair. If I actually did bump into Gary Barlow I wouldn’t immediately headbutt him, I suspect I’d just politely ignore him. But it’s not quite as engaging to say  ‘ooh, if I met that bland singer that plagued the radio in my youth, I’d ignore the heck out of him’ 🙃 this is a forum, it’s meant to be a bit more interesting than an endless stream of people going ‘that’s not for me, ta’

Yeah fully agree. I've always loved that music invokes a bit of passion in people. The idea of everyone having to politely say everything is good and fine is so bland and uninteresting.

Depeche mode has a little window in there tour dates.. Last tour for them as well

They've not said that. I guess we'll see but there's certainly no indication from the band that this will be it. Yet.

Dream booking for me. No one I'd rather see on that stage. Sadly, I think they're destined to forever swerve the farm.

I didn’t hear that it was their last tour. Do you have a source?

Even if it is, could certainly see it running into 2024.

Might be the last one. Same for Metallica. Neither will say it but can easily allude to it. DM will for sure tour into 2024, same as always. Just a matter of what they choose to do. Either it ends in Germany or Los Angeles.

    • Orbital opening the Other stage is a bold choice!
    • Great start for them
    • Thanks so much - that's very helpful. Someone else mentioned getting a train from Loughborough to East Midlands Parkway, and then a festival shuttle from there to the site. I think they were then going to come back on the Skylink Derby to Loughborough - I assume this is because the trains don't run as late as the Skylink, otherwise they would just come back the same way they came?! Is the transport hub a long way from the main stage? Just wondering what time I would need to leave Linkin Park to be sure of getting a shuttle. As I say, I am sure it will all be clear on the day, even after a few beers! Just hope the rain stays away...
    • I really don't think they would put Olivia Rodrigo on Occident stage. If it was her, they would put her in earlier Mordor slot and move Big Thief or Little Simz to Occident.   Fontaines DC are more probable, but don't really match the hype. However, again, if the hype was real, the artist would end up in Mordor.   That being said, I would love to see Fontaines DC tonight.
    • After all the good advice on here I had a nice visit to the site earlier in the week.    Walked down from Pilton village to Hitchen Hill and down the footpath to the Wood by Woodies.    Really strange seeing the site empty of 100,000 people. There is far more hedges and woodland on the site than you remember when the festival is on. Can see the stone circle and some structures still up on site. And looks like Worthy View has some camping going on there during the summer too.   Lots was fenced off with electric fencing to help wth the cattle grazing. Is really amazing how they set up the site as its hard enough accessing the area by car and foot nevermind all the kit needed to set the festival up. As others said you can't walk the whole site but nice to see the site again after a few years away   Pilton is also a lovely village with a nice village hall shop and post office attached, and got to speak to some locals who told me a few tales of past festivals down the years. One house for sale there would be lovely to live in - if only I had £2 million going spare
