Looking at some of the names mentioned and considering the efests opinion that the quality of vocals is irrelevant as the crowd sing-a-long will mask any poor performances, it seems that the "legend" slot is effectively a karaoke set.

Why not do away with booking anyone and just do a karaoke event, lyrics on the big screens, get some security dancing on the stage, job done!

I feel like it can be a relative term. I'd say someone like Kylie Minogue is a "contemporary legend" and someone like Rod Stewart is an "old scarecrow man".
