I can’t believe people forget .... but I know of plenty of my colleagues who have forgotten.... so she’s no different to them in that

If she was at a table and was having something to eat then someone said something to her. She probably got up out of habit to respond.

A slow coup. With this sort of thing and social media manipulation there is NO chance Labour get in again. They have permanent power yet still damage the country with permanent campaign mode.

Trump 2.0 for sure.

Oh now I'm really angry. The scum making political digs for reasons that are irrelevant to the real world.  I didn't vote for SNP and I am fully aware that Nicola is milking the situation for all she can.  BUT I think she is doing the right thing for the country.  There I've said it go argue..

Deal done to reopen the French border to lorry drivers using 30 minute lateral flow testing

For real? My local council has just cancelled its mass lateral flow test program due to the fact they aren’t accurate and miss a lot of positive cases...

Seems hardly a good idea for France to let lorry drivers in on the basis of lateral flow tests alone over PCR...

Its literally that or nothing or 24 hour minimum delays. Its not zero covid its removing what risk we can identify

Same goes for all general above and beyond uses of these tests - nothing will ever be 100% and to be honest it's not Ebola so doesnt need to be for such uses either

Yes for real - sometimes a bit of pragmatism is required.

Surely a test at all (even with some incorrect results) is better than no tests at all. We have to 'catch' the majority of the cases not all of them as that's impossible.

You're ok with food shortages in the UK?

How has it gone in Liverpool?  I see the infection rates have dropped in Liverpool and Sefton. How much is it due to mass testing?   Or lockdown?  My father in law is in Sefton and many of our close friends are the Merseyside area.

It’s not ideal but it’s better than food shortages

The efficacy

62% effective at preventing symptomatic infection doesn’t sound great from the headline but the key point is that it’s very very effective at preventing severe illness/death. Not a single person who received the vaccine was hospitalised after testing positive.

I see thank you. Find it hard to keep up with these vaccines. I applied for imperial trials but never heard back

Yup. And needs must. If we get the death rate to flu levels, then let's go for that, make masks mandatory over winter and crack on with life.

Of course. I was just surprised they’ve cut back lateral flows for everywhere else but plan to use them for this

Except they haven't. Where I live they are doing around 11k tests a day of both types. The rapid testing is being given to frontline workers NHS and Local Authority e.g. social workers. Where my parents live in the Midlands is doing similar.

Neighboring Authority has set up 4 centres for people just to turn up and test 21k people one day last week.

Its surely better to do laods of testing and catch carriers you wouldn't normally catch than not do it because you aren't going to catch them all?

Its about using the right tool for the job at hand and balancing the risk. These lorry drivers are pretty isolated in their cabs.

As for sturgeon at least she apologised and acknowledged she was in the wrong... rather than refusing to admit past mistakes last our prime minister.

yeah, if Cummings had apologised straight away along with his childcare explanation then probably would have been a lot less furore.

Imperial hasn't made it to Phase 3 so won't be recruiting in any numbers.

Given that they've been pretty much silent for over 6 months now (at one point they were talking about being only a couple months behind Oxford), I reckon there's a decent chance their candidate is being or has been quietly abandoned.
