Can anyone help me understanding this Tier stuff.

Usually see my 93 year old Grandmother at Christmas, she's now in a Tier 3, i'm in a Tier 2.

We had agreed a doorstop present exchange this year instead, however now she's gone up to Tier 3 is that now not possible? My uncle is in her tier too and in her bubble can we give the presents to him outside somewhere to hand to her instead? Or is that not allowed either? 

I'm getting completely confused by it all. 😞

It’s advised to avoid all travel between different tiered regions if possible but you can meet people outside in a public space in tier 3. So in theory you should be able to drop off a present to your Gran on her doorstep.

In the Commons Matt Hancock says that legally he has to review the tier allocations every two weeks.

But in practice they are reviewed every week, he says. And if there is a chance to move an area out of tier 3, he will take it, he says.

Is that still the case when they are eased for Christmas? As my brother (Tier 3) is coming to stay with my mum (Tier 2) for the 5 days.

I don't want to be a rule breaker or do anything wrong just want to hand some presents to her, or to someone who can at least get them to her!  All her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren are in different areas to her bar one uncle so she's going to spend it on her own as it is. 😞

I would just hand the presents over anyway .... keep them isolated in a bag that only you touch .... tip them on the doorstep , ring the bell and step back ..... Amazon or any other deliveries would be far more risky than that ...

Yeah that is still the case over Christmas too, all tier rules remain place over that period.

I don’t think you would be breaking any rules by doing this.

We have to get my uncle to help as she's not strong enough to handle herself. 

I'll put them all in one bag then give them to him to put in her house.
