Guilty Pleasure:

First Album I loved was Just a Boy by Leo Sayer.

Knew it word for word.

Bells of St Mary's still brings a tear to the eye.

Massively Overrated:

Foo Fighters, The Killers and Muse,  borefests, although I think thats a fairly well supported view on here.

&

REM - don't get the appeal.

In defence of Jack White:

While he's not David Gilmour he still plays great raw guitar - 300mph Torrential Outpour Blues,   has written some brilliant songs and plays very good, interesting drums.

White Stripes, Raconteurs and Dead Weather all have produced bangers.

Interesting thread this. I listen to a wide range of music, but my true love is late 90's to early 2000's Trance music. So many amazing tracks produced then, it really was a golden era of Electronic music for me and it was around the time when I was just old enough to be going out. So many good times and good memories that will live with me forever.

I have little time for generic indie music. I don't care much for the music of Michael Jackson, Prince or The Beatles.

My guilty pleasure is Beyonce.

This all over.

Also probably worth mentioning that Hands by Little Boots is one of my all time favourite albums, and really doesn't fit in with most of the rest of that list ?

Elvis doesn't get played anymore. Used to get dragged to Elvis conventions as a kid then grew to love em. Think he needs some love.

First concert ever was The Nolan Sisters in the Olympia theatre in Dublin. First gig I bought tickets for was INXS at the Point Depot in Dublin for the Suicide Blonde tour.

Love Pink Floyd from doing my first dots.

The Doors were another obsession along with Led Zeppelin in my teenage years.

Terence Trent D'arby should have been bigger.

Guilty not guilty pleasure is Justin Timberlake. ? Would love to see him on the pyramid or supporting Lizzo when she becomes the new queen.

Meh to Fleetwood Mac. More so since their awful blatent money grabbing.

I cried when Prince died cos I had always hoped to see him do the best ever set on the pyramid. I'd seen him before on his multi night run in the 02 London. The medleys ruined it for me.

Oasis suck.

Biggest regret of this year was missing The Good the bad and the queen and Fontaines DC. I was outside the Williams green tent but it was fucking scorchio.

All of you on this thread justifying or negating your tastes know nothing Jon Snow.

There IS no accounting for taste. No resolution. No empirical answer.

He. He.

Most overrated album of all time is Sgt Pepper. Wouldn’t get in my top 100.

The George Harrison number is a dirge, much of it is just average Beatles songs and there’s only two stand outs (A day in the life and Lucy in the sky).

Bold Claims!

I'll go with that. Obviously it was a landmark album in terms of production, but the compositions weren't their strongest.

You do both know that "A Day in the Life" is on Sgt Pepper obviously?

No further questions.

With a little help from my friends,

When I'm 64,

The  title song,

all the others,

I'm not even a massive Beatles fan.

Did he? I thought we really really wanted him to, but he didn't. I did a quick Google. He certainly didn't play in 14,16, 17 or 19, because I'd have been all over that upright piano shit.

Any chance you're getting mixed up with Floating Points?

Definitely not getting mixed up with Floating Points. I'm sure he was at least rumoured and talked about on here (but then who isn't :)) because that's how I first heard of him and downloaded his music. Or maybe my memory is playing tricks again. :(

Right...

- Robbie would smash a Glastonbury slot and has more bangers than Kylie.

- Idles are just a woke version of all the shit post punk bands Steve lamacq' s been banging on about for years.

- The National are just shite.

- Drum and Bass is an almost universally terrible genre. (Feel like I'm betraying the electronica thread here).

- The Beatles in 2019 are bordering on irrelevance . Revolutionary and influential in their time, yes; something I'd listen to now? Not a chance.

This thread angers me with all the hot takes that aren't "confessions" so I may have refrain from coming here ?

But as a parting gift since we can all play the game:

- Radiohead are stupidly overrated and 2017 was dull;

- I saw Bruuuuuuce (who was incredible) but didn't see Blur in 2009 and don't regret it one bit; and,

- Specialised forums are a terrible place for this kind of discussion since everyone's up on their high horse thinking they know best.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
