2020 headliners

I think Grande will do it, but I just don't see it for next year. She absolutely could headline next year and it would massive, I just think she's one for a few years down the line. Personally she hasn't clicked with me yet and I think she's a 1989 away from being a really legitimate top shelf act IMO.

Next year is for Swift or Gaga.

Hmm I reckon a 1989 style album would actually ruin the chance of getting her though. She’s big at the moment but not too big that she’s out of the festivals reach.

Taylor swift has been at a height that is so massive that the festival probably struggle to get her to come down. It’s going to take Taylor to stop doing stadiums to get her to do Glasto imo.

Think i read somewhere that Ariana's recent tour was a very phoned in, so I really hope she works on improving her show if shes doing Glasto. Gaga seems like a more natural fit tbh if she ever gets around to sorting out that new album, and TSwizzle would obviously be awesome if she doesn't mind the pay cut

She’s bigger than either of those nowadays.

Chart wise Ariana is bigger than Taylor but Taylor is still selling out stadiums. I’m willing to bet that is a major factor in the reason why Taylor has never headlined a festival.

Emily told me 2 years ago that they had 2 sorted - which can't have been very sorted cos she's saying now just one is sorted.

I'm wondering if one of those was Macca but then touring plans changed and they tried to fit him into this year.

Doesn't that tie in with a news article where Michael said in the lead up to 2017 that he'd had Ray Davies on the phone? I can remember getting giddy that he would play that year but it came to nothing. Perhaps it was lining up 2020 instead as a Kinks reunion?

This has been burning in my head and dunno if anyone has asked but if Fleetwood Mac played, and it was the band still without Buckingham, would that be still be hugely appealing to the wider masses??

Aye, I do t think it would out people off and from just about everyone I know who have seen them said Neil Finn does a superb job.

It would be better with Buckingham but I don't feel like it's a huge sticking point. You've still got Nick's, Fleetwood and both McVies so the job would get done and it's go down a storm. I do t think they even deviate from the set list pre Buckingham leaving.

I've not followed the FM thing too closely recently, but haven't the setlists apparently been better post-Buckingham? He's one of my guitar idols so it'd be a shame for them to do Glastonbury without him, but it'd be pretty great anyway. Seeing Stevie Nicks up there ?

In the context of Glastonbury though, especially the older demographic than the charts, surely she’s not remotely close to Gaga?

I don’t think you can compare the two acts really. If either were booked they’d get a huge amount of media attention and a huge crowd. It’s not really an either or kinda situation. If Gaga headlines it will be huge, if Ariana headlines it will be huge. I reckon both would get the same sized crowd though (which is big)

Maybe FM have agreed to fit in Glastonbury on their next tour cycle in 21 or 22?

The Eavis are massaging with their egos to make sure it happens. I think if they were locked in for next year they'd be silence not public displays of affection.

I think Gaga has much more widespread appeal whereas Ariana would be more for the young'uns.

I think that theory has been disproved in recent years. People will go along to see huge name, no matter the artists 'usual' demographic. They'd all be huge. There would probably be more fuss about Grande from the Facebook lot but the crowd would be massive.

    • My party again had an outstanding 4 days in Barca. We made the right call to leave the festival site early at about 10.30 on Thursday to get ourselves some excellent steaks in the city. I am with everyone that the organization should have been clearer about what is going on and also if you would like to get rid of some attendees open more exits, they sent us from gate to gate until we finally were able to get out. Biggest 'disappointment' was the beer price, a YoY increase from 5 to 6 is absolutely nuts!!! (i am living in Switzerland so me making this comment says something 🙂)   Top 10:   1. Men I Trust 2. Role Model (could have been first as well, what a great artist and great songs) 3. The XX 4. The cure (the last 90 minutes) 5. Gorillaz 6. MBV 7. Ninajirachi (another big miss of the organization, clearly on the wrong podium and wonder if Olivia's surprise set had something to do with that and they had to reschuffle late the Occident, Cupra and Port schedules) 8. NewDad 9. Big Thief 10. Annastashia      We did 3 years Barca now and for next year looking at the Porto or Bilbao festivals as an option.
    • Personally if it was me now, I would be grabbing a green camping ticket with the knowledge closer when I've refreshed that I can still choose general if I want to....you can't do the opposite!    I would say if you are happy to watch your headliners and big bands further back to be able to see who you actually plan to later then yes it is fine. Its a much difference experience to any other festival especially food wise and camping surrounds.    Once you're in the arena as well you're not going back unless you've got a gap. If I go again I'll be going with the option of not trying to push the front and enjoying further back as you actually put too much pressure on it than the time take away can forget to enjoy other acts.
    • No complaints about the sound. We were like 2nd set of steps facing stage right in like the middle row.
    • On the whole then, yay or nay...I've had a look on festivals united and there's people who seem converted by Rock Im Park, I can imagine it might be different if it was a washout as RaR is tarmac.   The hotel side would be more to convince the non campers if it's an option. On my first visit to rock am ring we were shuttled into the area where you could stick the car next to the tent which was fantastic as it meant zero lugging of camping gear.
