I envy all of you that can just focus on the music. The rain just makes it all so miserable for me.

I could be watching Bowie jamming with Prince but if it’s raining, i’d fuck it all off to sit and sulk in the bar in the Acoustic field. The success of the festival for me is utterly dependent on the weather, far more than the linep.

There wasn't very much rain.

The mud's definitely easier if you're in decent physical nick. I wouldnt want to have spent all that time schlepping around in it if I was compromised by something or other.

Pushing a buggy with a 2 year old in frinstance.

Whataver way it worked out I didn't see a band when it was raining that year and saw well over 20.

Great year for acts. ZZ Top, Ronnie Spector, Art Garfunkel, Rokia Traore, Squeeze, Adele, St Paul & The Broken Bones, Kamasi Washington, Beck, Patti Griffin...

Missed Sigur Ros, PJ Harvey, LCD Soundsystem, ELO, Christine and the Queens, White Denim, Underworld, Earth Wind and Fire, Savages, John Grant, Kurt Vile and so on.

Don't get me wrong though, give me 2017 sun instead any time. Glorious stuff.

Patti Smith was 2015.

So just utter shit then.

2007 was a totally different story. No late night options really as it was pre SE corner, Stone Circle wasnt an option as it was pissing rain and Lost Vagueness was coming to an end. The weather was utterly appalling and the lineup was a load of old bollocks.

Bjork, Africa Express and Arcade Fire were good. The rest was really, really hard work.

That thursday afternoon, the skies just fucking opened, around the time of DhakaBrakha. Oof. And watching Jeff Lynne in wrapped up in plastic macs. Just fucking miserable.

Like i say, i admire those of you who can get past the weather. Wish i could, but i just can’t.

2016 had one of my favourite lineups, which helped counter the tough ground conditions - Coldplay was a triumph, and saturday night's M83/Chvrches double was synthpop heaven.

The mud and ridiculous amount of time it took to get onto the site have put a few of my group off for good it seems, unfortunately.

as someone who couldn't care less who plays where or when, when or how the lineup is revealed, if i have heard of more than 5 acts, what the changes to the site layout will be, what the weather was / is going to be etc etc. I have to say i love threads like this, i think its covered about 15 different topics and made me smile a lot and also think 'tosser' to some comments.

There is always such a rambling nature to the topics in these threads and i have to admire the level of joy that they bring out in people.

It also reminds me how little i know / remember about the site, even after 10 visits i struggle to put names to places that get mentioned The photo's are always fantastic and the discussions bring back so many memories.

2007 first year - thinking disappointed about no late night area's, exhausted for weeks after and swearing that would never be going again.

2016 planned on being the last time of going - had a nightmare getting in and had to leave lunchtime on Sunday as flying Monday morning and couldn't risk the mayhem making me late.

Watching Coldplay on the TV with a curry and a can at home. Really enjoyed 2016 in the end.

2017 - decided to limit the bimbling for the first time ever, had a fantastic time.

With the lack of bimbling in 2017 and then the fallow year, i am already having troubling picturing the layout but the excitement and desire to be there in June has never been higher.

Its a big decision to go this year due to costs so have been thinking a lot and going back to the very first paragraph the answer is simple.

I / we will be at Glastonbury! The small bits that people get wound up about or focus on don't matter, just being there is all that matters!

Keep discussing folks, i love it but in the end it doesn't make a damn of difference:)

2016 was ok for me, bit muddy here & there, alcohol powered me through the boggy bits.

I remember there was some light rain on the Sunday though & spent most of the day socialising. Only saw one band & that was Coldplay where drugs were required to get there from the Paines campsite.

All this talk of the 2016 lineup inspired me to have a look back through the clashfinder and piece together what I saw:

Friday: James > Elle King > Skepta > Frightened Rabbit > ZZ Top > Foals > Muse - Ok, not a fantastic day.

Saturday: Wolf Alice > Madness > Last Shadow Puppets > Art Garfunkel > Adele - One of the best days I've ever had at GF (dodgy AC/DC covers aside)

Sunday: Cassetteboy > Paul Heaton & Jacqui Abbot > ELO > Beck > Coldplay - Pretty decent.

In short, the lineup for 2016 was fine (Saturday was ace), it was just the weather that made it a slog.

    • I agree the prices are tough for locals. You can see if Porto timetable is the type that works for you and it's a terrific city. Also cheaper. https://www.primaverasound.com/es/porto/lineup-porto
    • thanks XXialac! i guess for us the most important aspect will be a festival that starts very late in the day, specially in these southern countries were it can be really hot! The combination of visiting a new city, having good lunches and enjoying a festival is a absolute must for us. Also, we like headliners but the undercard is just as important; truly enjoyed Men I trust, NewDad, Big Thief this year so from that angle it is not really a big thing if a festival is somewhat smaller.    Apparently my bad, i had 5 in my system but 0.5 (10%) increase is still huge. I am not sure how teenagers can afford these prices............
    • That second part was how I felt about Rock IM Park this year trying first. I found that when it gets to like the 3rd act on the main stage down, you've gotta make a choice to miss anything leading up might not enjoy and it's sometimes while closer for not a great view as everyone in turn has to make the call too. Being short doesn't help as I'd just be able be further bacm but still see.
    • I wasn’t slagging Scooter off, they are undeniably silly. As I said, they are the definition of a meme booking for Download. People requested them for years because it was silly.
