  1. I would love to do that with the kids, some warm clothes and sleeping bags is a great idea - that would be a fantastic memory to see a sunrise on the Monday morning 🙂
  2. God, i wish i could, i could drink and dance 24/7 back in 2007, without a care in the world - too many years of doing that has taken its toll unfortunately. Even though its been 5 years since my last visit, it still comes back quickly when you get there, there can only ever be one first time as Neil says - wish that wasn't the case, not making the most of that first trip in2007 is one of my biggest regrets. The kids haven't been since 2017 so for them it will be like a first time as they don't really remember any of their 3 trips there.
  3. I had a good walk around in 2019 and they were all booked up - can't remember if it was Wednesday or Thursday though. do you remember what time they start in the morning? 15 quid - how long is that for? Its been a while since i've had a massage in the UK, maybe 10 years and i'm sure it was more like 50 quid for an hour
  4. Thank you everyone, for sure, i'll not be doing anything like queuing for the secret piano bar, I hate waiting at the best of times and I do always think that every minute spent queuing is one precious minute lost - especially at Glastonbury where its just a finite time of 5 days. I had an halloumi cone in one of the early years - remember asking and paying for extra but some bugger had claimed it as theirs before i could grab it, so had to wait for another one to be made. I must try and get up the ribbon tower and see a set on the park stage - never done either of those. I also do want to do an all nighter but will have my 2 kids with me, I am looking to get a helper to come along to the festival so I can have 1 or maybe even 2 very late nights or very early mornings, the kids would have no problem staying up till 12 or even 1 but would then sleep in most of the next day and I don't want to waste any time whilst there. I've never had a massage or spent much time in the circus / theatre area so these are 2 things I will try and make up for. The music has never been the main draw for me, so there's no excuse for us not spending more time away from the main stages when they are on. I will make sure to go back out of gate C at night to view the festival from there, because that was the first place I saw it from when arriving late on the Thursday night in 2007 - that memory has always stayed with me and every year I stand in the same place to take it all in - though it seems a little less is visible each time as some of the trees keep growing.
  5. Hi all, this year is going to be the last time I attend the festival. Its too far away and too expensive to travel too and I can't push myself like I used to in the early years (so can't make the most of it when I'm there). Anyway, over the years I've heard things about tomato fights, paint fights and all sorts of secret or special things that go on, which somehow I've always seemed to miss. I'm looking to make this last trip as special and memorable as possible, so what would you recommend or have on your activity list if it was your last time at the festival? Cheers.
  6. I tried to book our flights over using my NZ account and it kept failing on the authenticator, so i switched to trying from my UK account, had to authenticate it on the App, but it worked no problem at all and it was for 4 tickets in business class, so not a small amount of money at all. In the end it looks like its mostly down to the bank, ASB does see seem to be risk averse, difficult to spend your own money with them sometimes, maybe just worth checking with your bank in advance if you don't have other options if your first try fails.
  7. Picked up my daughters passport with her UK visa in it on Friday. Now just need to cancel of the flight bookings as the kids mother will not be joining us on the trip and begin the search to find some childminding help during the trip and during the festival, thank fully the lovefields ticket can be used by anyone so that should help in the search:)
  8. Just sorting out the documents ready for attaching to my daughters visa application, will be able to submit later this week, getting the visa is almost the last piece of the puzzle for us. Should know by the end of March. Haven't looked at flight prices since booking, be pissed if they have come down over the last month or so 😞
  9. We've only been to Womad since being here, went last year for the first time and enjoyed it much more than expected so will be going back next month - maybe 15000 or so people there - so enough to make the weekend nice. With the Sunday crowd and dependent on which figures you take - Glastonbury could pip Wellington and make it to the 3rd largest city, would be interesting to see that physical size overlay thing that was going around to compare the land size as well.
  10. I've talked endlessly about it whenever I can during my 6 years here and am always wearing something with Glastonbury on it (and so are the kids too - but they keep growing out of stuff). People are fascinated by it because there's nothing remotely like it here. I did see a lady in our local supermarket with the same 2016 coat on, but other than that I've never seen anyone else in Glasto related stuff. We also have 3 campervan passes still stuck to the screen of the van, that's raised a few comments over the years too. If you visited Wellington, would have been great to have spotted someone else with a Glasto T shirt on 🙂
  11. Paid the rest of the glamping charges, so that's the flights, the accommodation and the tickets now secured.
  12. Thank you so much:) - the weather is the only thing i'm worrying about, it just feels like we are due a bad one - been through a few rough ones in the past, but really don't fancy going through one again. Positive thoughts only from now on 😉
  13. We're treating this as a once in a lifetime final visit to the festival, so have pushed the boat out big style and its costing more than I care to think about (and will never share on here for sure), but for us its worth it and we are going to enjoy every second of all of the luxury and travelling lite from the time we leave NZ to the time we get back - sometimes you just have to go for it and enjoy what you want, whilst you still can.
  14. Seeing all the comments about 2025 headliners made me think the same thing 🙂
  15. Does that spell Worthy view? Never noticed it before.
  16. Well finally booked the flights and time off from work plus a few more houses / hotels for the stay - will be in the UK for just over a month - its all starting to feel real now! Have to wait until March to apply for the visa's so still some stuff to sort out. How's everyone else's plans and arrangements going?
  17. Thank you for the other reply and explanation, I wish i had managed to read it and understand it before the local sale as i like others was keen to see what would happen, in the end completely forgot about the local sale and the accommodation one is at 1am for me, so won't be trying it then either.
  18. I've just tried 2 ways of getting the IP address for Glastonbury.seetickets.com and both give me this number. This is very different to the range that was contained within this thread and also provided in the myip link that someone provided. I'm just trying to understand how all of the host file changing an IP address stuff works. In the past it would have had no interest to me as a heavy current electrical engineer but now I'm working as an OT lead and doing a project where we have to integrate with a file transfer registry and also a website and so this techy stuff has started to interest me - I like to know how things work. Am I doing something incorrectly, looking at completely the wrong thing or have See changed something since the sale?
  19. Was just looking again at the location and i'm edging towards going via Singapore with maybe a decent length stop over for a good rest and use of the hotel / facilities. What we'll save by going economy rather than premium will make a massive difference to the cost of the trip. Cheers
  20. When i used to travel long haul a lot (several times a month) i would check and note every good economy seat position, as you are right, there are some that are much better than others and you can either pay a small fee or sometimes nothing to get a much better experience. Travelling so much I did get a get a few upgrades or cheap business class boosts, that made life a lot easier, would arrive some much fresher by just being able to fully recline and keep the fluid out of my legs. Don't miss flying at all.
  21. It is an extortionate increase for what you get in return. I have also looked at maybe getting a flight with a longer stop and then booking a hotel air side for a few hours, I think Singapore has one or 2, can't remember now. But a good period of time to stretch the legs, shower, get a massage etc can all make a mike difference to the feeling when you finally arrive in the UK and this would be alot cheaper than 4 premium economy tickets. I'm hoping for a 2 for 1 sale 😉
  22. Haven't booked flights back to the UK since 2019 so a bit out of touch. Would be great to get an idea of when is likely to be the best time to book them. We can book now, but we also need 2 visa's which we can't apply for until Jan next year, so i'm trying to hold off until after Christmas - unless a really good offer comes along in the meantime. Looking to go for premium economy for a little bit of extra comfort which bumps the price up a fair bit. Someone from work just use AirNZ for the UK and said the extra was worth it for them. Any advice on time for booking or airline experience would be gratefully received. Have thought about flying to Perth (stay a day or 2) and then getting the non stop flight to London - help with the time difference a bit and getting over the flights in all - cheers.
  23. It wasn't too bad here as the time difference is now 13 hrs for NZ, but I did set the alarm a bit earlier than normal, move all of the kit the night before from the downstairs room to the living room which is nearer to the router to get a better and more reliable signal and drum it into the kids that they would have to do the first 30 minutes of the morning routine without me - 7am is spot on their wake up times. Went to be bed reasonably late with everything still scheduled to be on. Woke up and decided to check the phone to get the link on a page there ready. first saw a news article from Xnews (i think) and being half asleep still thought it must be an April fool or someone on here had managed to create the hack to put off lots from trying - didn't believe it until I checked the actual website. People a bit nearer the UK than NZ would have had it worst, some really would have been getting up in the middle of the night to log on, they would have been pissed for sure. My internet was terrible all day yesterday, so a blessing in disguise and having a new system installed on the 8th, so will get to see how that performs. One thing i did learn yesterday was that using my phone hotspot on 5G and then connecting my computer to it seemed to be faster than relying on the wifi - might give that a full try in one of the sales.
  24. Great reading those comments on the bbc page. People trying all through the night, failing detail pages, payment processing issues - doesn't look like we've progressed as far as we thought it 20 years 🙂 AI is the answer 😉
