Robbie's arena tour hasn't sold as well as expected, starts in a couple of weeks and pretty much every night still has tickets available.

It's incredibly expensive.

I'd imagine he's planning some outdoor UK gigs in the Summer which will be announced once the arena dates are over. The random Oslo date in June is probably more an indication of that than anything else.

No arena tours are really selling right now, though, particularly at a high price point like £80+ – I don't think it reflects his popularity necessarily. Kendrick still has loads left, Arcade Fire wasn't great, Little Mix struggled to shift, and even someone as massive as Dua only sold out hers a couple of weeks before it started. From memory only N Dubz(!) really smashed it this year.

I think he'd do alright doing the BST/a bunch of smaller stadiums circuit next summer if they got the promo and price point right. It's just a weird market right now for everyone.

Doesn’t feel like many of the big gigs sell out right now, people can’t afford a £80 day out before even considering travel, food and of course drink

interested to see how arctic monkeys sell on Friday based on how badly they were received at reading and leeds

The ticket system for that four tet show is so weird, had to submit all my details including number of tickets and card payment (which was only a pre-auth for £1) and then I need to wait until start of October to see if I’m successful.

Assuming he’ll add a Friday date in there?

I’ve never seen this type of sign up in my life. Is this new going forward to beat touts?

do I bother signing up to both shows?

Its been done over here a couple times. Madonna on her theater tour she did for Madame X and Paramore just did it last week for a couple of underplay shows in LA. Phish have been doing this for years for their tours to get 90% of tickets into their fans hands directly. But thats with their own ticketing system and not ticketmaster. As much as it sounds like its controlling touts, you really are even more at the mercy of sheer randomness instead of controlling your purchase. I just wonder if FT adds a date that anyone who had a request denied will just automatically be shifted towards that new date.

If you sign up for both gigs you can get tickets for both. Although they likely will do their direct ticket exchange for these gigs and you can give up spares for cost and nothing more. Enjoy the new normal!

It’s happened for sporting events such as the Olympics and the Euros. You give them your card details and the games/events you want and if you’re lucky in the draw they charge you automatically.

Yep, this. The thought of shelling out hundreds to stand at the back isn't appealing. And of course, is what makes Glastonbury still good value.

    • I'm bemused why Jaissle hasn't been confirmed yet. If he and his coaches are already there, surely the paperwork to send this through must be somewhat sorted and confirmation imminent, no?   Feel like clubs are soft on tapping up now as an industry, right? I swear most deals seem to be a case that personal terms are agreed beforehand. In an older life, this Bruno deal has a potential case imo given the use of intermediaries to plant a seed in Bruno's mind this was a good idea (much I'm prepared to accept last season's mess would likely have had Bruno doubting if he wanted to stay regardless) but the industry seems more forgiving of this stuff at present. Wind seems to be picking up that a deal is about to happen regardless. Shame as I'd have been more willing to accept a move to Real Madrid but it is what it is.   Would be nice if we could show some more balls with this stuff tbf. Feel like the owners are taking a strange lesson from Isak last year in that now, we just have to let everyone go at the first sign of trouble, even though other clubs in a similar boat to us are seemingly more willing to turn back and tell pursuers to f**k off.
    • I wouldn't. U2 would almost certainly be doing stadiums and Muse have been saying they have stadium shows booked. They're the likelier of the two to be doing BST Hyde Park, but my expectations would be to expect them turning up at a stadium.
    • Exactly. One rumour doing the rounds was that they were playing 2 stadium shows in Greece next summer and that I would assume it'll be part of the same tour to do a London stadium gig.
    • Fontaines would be excellent, if not for the fact R+L have them this year. Spurs feels bold - though achievable, of course.
    • Start your engines.    Going to hazard a guess at St. Vincent, Faith No More and LCD Soundsystem as the more boutique "coup" options.    Expect Rick Astley one among the Radio 2-friendly bankers.    Let the guesswork commence!
