Thanks for the clarification

Though that's not to say he'll move onto much bigger venues than that. It was clear to see he was pushing himself a bit with an arena tour....it did sell I think eventually but took a while, bar possibly Manchester but that's expected.

I was being cheeky. It's clear from the ad that he's got a new album out and that he's touring smaller venues. Where he goes from here, who knows?

Surprised by the arena dates

Love how from Liverpool upwards it's arenas and from Nottingham (well Llandudno really but who cares about them) downwards all non-arenas.

Anyway the arena dates don't surprise me when you've got the likes of The Wombats and The Kooks playing them in 2018.

I was tempted but the new song is awful.

To be honest it's an academy tour with northern arena dates as that's where they can sell it. I actually think if this sells well they will go on to do a solo outdoor show themselves similar to what Liam has this year.....there is a Manchester gig of any sort missing there and prices right I reckon they could sell 50k tickets with 6 months to sell.

They are well on the way to topping Reading outright.

Oh man, might have to be all over this one. I like the new tune!

Many people have compared it to The Jilted Generation and Experience but to be honest I've not a huge fan. I'm more Fat of the Land, I thought IMD was superb too and there is another one.

It got discussed on the new music thread I think, definitely sounds like something that would be used live to build the hype in the crowd to drop into a banger like Firestarter or similar.  As a standalone it doesn't really go anywhere in itself, but it's really grown on me. Giving serious consideration to the Brighton gig

They were great in Manchester last year...

Fucking weird how Panic! At The Disco are suddenly massive again. First album was everywhere, second album felt like it dropped off a cliff and they were completely over, haven't even noticed and of their releases since then. I saw them at Leeds in about 2010 and they felt like yesterday's news, people just there for an ironic bop to Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl can have.

They seem to have taken the opposite path to most bands in their position and instead of breaking up and making a comeback bigger than ever a few years later they've just refused to fuck off and have kept a stream of passable albums coming out every two years, somehow managing to climb their way to the top again after considerable lulls. I mean, as a former fan they sound terrible now, but fair play to them/him. If you'd have told me ten years ago that Panic! at the Disco would be playing arenas now I'd definitely have thought you were taking the piss.

    • sub yes I could see but I don't think they get 1hr 15, a headliner starting at 18:15 though is unlikely. Even the recent co-headlines that have had like 1hr 15 then a 1hr 30 after were on 8pm or just before, you are trailing behind more than 1.5 hours then. In that scenario some 3rd down bands are only starting at 18:15 and some haven't lol. I agree they won't not book them due to this but it won't be 6 headliners. It would be 5 headliners and you wouldn't want to see 5 headliners booked but Biffy were to not be thouhgt of as an option for one. Wolf Alice on the other hand could sub no bother and you'd think nothing of it. I'm not so sure Biffy would get headline though after the festival choice in Kendal this year.
    • Definitely. UKIP also used Merkel welcoming 1 million Afgans to Europe in 2015 during the brexit vote.   Politicians in other countries within the EU know the are going to lose voters to parties to the right of them over stuff like this and they've no control over it.
    • I think it will very much vary on who there is to book who they know will sell out a day.    They’ve co-headline and full headline stuff in future, there no reason at all they won’t do it again, even if it means cutting someone’s set by 15 mins or having a band less in a big bands day…   They’re not going to not book Foo fighters and instead get the equivalent of Florence and C&S just to not have a band do a big set…   …unless of course they think it will make them more money…
    • Maybe some right wing leaders like Meloni are just playing to their base, like Reform have been here talking about them ending up at Calais.
    • Citizenship via investment programs basically work by saying if you invest this much in our economy (say buy a property worth x) then we will either grant you citizenship or residency with a route to it. The EU has rules on how low countries can set the bar. Montenegro was one of the easier ones to get and they've had to tighten it up.
