2019 Headliners

Quick, release the lineup now so that even if it’s not stupendous  it’ll look like the greatest lineup ever next to TRNSMT.

Is the Sunday night headliner usually 'the biggest'? Or is that not a thing?

Saturday is usually thought to be the biggie, although obviously it all depends on what days each acts can play so it doesn’t always pan out that way.

Is there anything George Ezra isn't headlining this year? All the festivals seem to vary in size as well which is slightly odd. Neighborhood, Parklife, TRNSMT Isle of Wight and Latitude... Also, did I miss the boat or something? Had no idea he was festival headliner material.

That TRNSMT line up is awful , compared to their previous years really surprised

Stormzy, catfish and george Ezra .  Reckon they spent too much on acts in recent years. First rumours I had heard a few months ago was the Who and Muse were playing. Muse didn’t have a Scottish date on their tour

I'm kinda starting to wonder if The Strokes are subbing Stormzy. Grimmy had info they were playing and there really isnt anywhere else other than a secret set they could fit in (assuming that his info is correct). Would keep rock fans happier too.

However I they are headlining everywhere else they are playing. I dunno maybe this will become the new Cure headlining the Other stage but just something I considered

It won’t be the ‘new Cure headlining Other Stage’ cos people have been suggesting Strokes subbing the Pyramid for years. And it hasn’t been happening for years.

I don’t think it’s that they spent too much in previous years - just that there’s fuck all else available, especially big name headliners who are actually willing to do it.

I may have bitched and moaned about The Killers, but looking at what a lot of other festivals have ended up with Glastonbury haven’t done all that bad, even if it’s not for me.

Probably right, but the feeling up here is that ticket sales will be extremely slow. As for the killers, I am actually looking forward to them !

TRSNMT line up is a shocker, worse than IOW.

Seems to me that The Who, Pink, Madonna, Fleetwood Mac, Bon Jovi, Muse and other big artists and bands are dumping festivals for big pay day stadium shows of their own. This year imo Rock Werchter is the only decent headlined festival all the others are poorer than 2018, although in the UK download looks decent.  I’m concerned that Glastonbury won’t pull anything amazing together although it’s great there anyway.

Edit* although I’ll take the Cure if they get the nod ?

I agree, I don’t think there’s much out there to go and get. I’ll be happy with the killers as well seeing what other festivals have ended up with

Perfectly summed up.  Was trying to say similar the other day in the TRSMT thread.  Look across every lineup this year and they certainly seems to be massively similar.  Glastonbury will again stand out due to its diverse nature

I agree, we’re still going to be better off than most festivals

    • OK, never mind, I'll take normal Nine Inch Nails.
    • Probably my least favourite of the five editions I've been to, but still plenty good enough for me to go again. Weirdly, I was just totally running out of stamina a lot earlier into the night than I remember happening in the past. I feel like I missed a lot of the weirder sets on the smaller stages as I was just totally cooked. Not Primavera's fault, obviously. Maybe I'm just getting old - or maybe I need to pace my drinking better...   Anyway - is David Byrne a realistic get for next year? Certainly hoping so.
    • watching clips of the cure in Barcelona, wow 2 hours 25 minute set. That's gonna be tough on the Sunday but can't bloody wait for it
