2019 Headliners

For months and months I was telling you about how Gaga was in my tea leaves, and whispered to me by the winds, and written in the ebbing and flowing of the tides, and running through the ever-growing branches of the trees. Perhaps now you'll all listen.

To GaGa?  Hmm maybe if there's no-one better but not really bothered if I'm honest.

Cool, okay, so it's best guess not set in stone still... I know everyone thought they seemed an odd "Sunday locals act".

I definitely want to start spreading a rumour that Macca will just jump on the plane post Vegas and head straight over...

Finishes in Vegas at 11pm (4pm GMT), flight by 1am (6pm GMT)...9 hours flight so lands at 3am GMT....hotel at the airport, in jimmy jammies by 5am...that's a good solid 14 hour kip before a helicopter to Worthy Farm.

Collins is a bit rubbish, but I don't have a deep hatred of him. Now when it comes to Sting, @fatyeti24 really does have some feelings.

He did an album with Shaggy, he's gone up in my estimations.

@H.M.V  ?

Ah yeah, thanks :P Dunno if Glasto is safe for Phil then, but he's almost deaf, right?

Sure, gutted it won't be Macca, but I'm very pleased with this thread coming to life again. From all mentioned names I think Lady Gaga would be the most interesting, but as it stands I think The Strokes is most likely. Or Gaga subbed by The Strokes ideally.

In 2010 I was at the Stone Circle with my mates, we left & my mates couldnt find me. I was found having a go at a print of the Mona Lisa, telling "Phil Collins" to fuck off & how much I dislike him.

1. In reality I don't care about him. I've no disire to watch him, but I don't hate him.

2. Why the fuck did he look like the Mona Lisa? I must have been mega fucked.

Wtf! I knew it wasn't going to be Macca because it's the only thing I've ever truly hoped for.

I wont dare to hope for Gaga.

The sun has set on the happiness of my soul.

The only thing that could possibly help is if someone sang a happy song about how the sun was coming and it was going to be alright (do do do do). Now no one is going to.

Its gunna be (the) Stormzy The Strokes and The Cure.

Christ, I just attempted to watch The Strokes set at Reading in 2011 on YouTube. Surely they can’t headline Glastonbury in 2019?

My two cents? I think it will be a female headliner, or at least a band with a female presence.I think a second all- male trio in succession would seem a bit odd, especially as some festivals are curating 50/50 gender split line-ups. Going into 2020, it would mean the last woman to grace the Pyramid stage would be Adele 4 years previous. I know they can only book who’s available, but I’d rather them take a punt on a smaller/ interesting female act than a washed-up Indie or Rock band.

Fleetwood Mac, 2 birds 1 stone. A washed up Rock act with a female presence?

This is frying my brain a bit but surely the maths there can't be right as the US is eight hours behind us right? So it would be 4am not 4pm in the UK. Still time for a nice long plane sleep though.

100% 2 Birds 1 Stone. I was astounded some people were paying over £200 for them.

I know... I dont mind them, they have a few tunes I like - but I find them massively over rated. Rumours is this classic album, but other than go your own way & the chain, it's pretty bland to my ears. Don't Stop & Dreams are alright, but I cant get excited at all by the rest.

The price of their wembley gig is obscene.

It’s Fleetwood Mac, course they have tunes but they are past it and £200 is really taking the piss. They went from loving the music to the money and that was a sad thing to see since they won’t hardly do festivals and dont do there own gigs for obscene prices of which people will pay because they may never get the chance again. Really sad from a band I used to love.

I love Fleetwood Mac, but without Lindsey Buckingham it just doesn’t do it for me, I’ll be elsewhere.

Can’t really see the sense of it being The Strokes, as mentioned previously it would be a proper event for something like a Killers-JP Tent set, other than that it’s unexciting.

it won’t be Phil Collins

so my perspective has changed over the years, I’m enthused to not ‘having to see’ some big headliner, which appears increasingly likely, so my ideal is end each day with a headliner in West Holts, The Park, and Avalon, in whatever order.

    • I think my party got pretty lucky last night, at least compared to some of the horror stories over on Reddit. I was very impressed with Father John Misty in particular.   Perhaps my view would be different if I were a big Massive Attack fan or whatever, but right now my feeling is that if it's not safe for the shows to go ahead... then it's not safe for the shows to go ahead. I'd much rather they were cautious than roll the dice when it comes to something like that.    Here's hoping everyone has a better day today.
    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
