Not any more you can't. I can tell you've gone all healthy if you think you can still get a massive bottle of Frosty's for £2.

You most certainly can in Tescos.

Edit: not Frosy’s.

What does this look like? Correct. It's a festival with multiple stages, massive PA and lights, DJs, bars, food vendors selling festival food, merchandise stalls and lots of toilets. The woman on the stage with long legs and her back to us is Taylor Swift. See that crowd? They are densely packed and (whisper it) heavily male. Don't tell me she won't play festivals and is only of interest to teenage girls.

A six song set at an outdoor Radio 1 promo event is in the same ballpark as Glastonbury, let alone headlining. Yep ok.

2 stages actually Martin. 3 if we're being generous to count the tiny BBC Introducing tent as a 'stage'.

Not surprised it's packed. She is after all playing to crowd primarily geared towards Radio 1's key 14-23yo demographic (plus certain middle aged men)

She'd play Coachella before she ever consider Glastonbury but that's not going to happen either. Just like she's never done Superbowl. She only plays at events that are geared to her fanbase and she knows she'll get a great reaction.

I don't think it's that she wants to play for just fans and is afraid of a poor reception.

I have been thinking, though, that a 'no festival' mindset is quite similar to the way her albums come out; if people want the full album then - albeit only for the first week or two - they have to buy it rather than looking it up on Spotify. So the nearest live music equivalent of that would be making it so the only way to see a definitive Taylor Swift live show would be coughing up the money for a ticket to her own show.

Wpuldnt the Piano Man be cracking in the Sunday afternoon slot? I wonder why hes never done it?

Probably sees himself as headline material only and certainly not a heritage act/has been. Agree though, I’d love to see him - he’s got a great back catalogue (in parts).

    • TVOD are playing Blue Basement in London 2/9 with a complete EOTR/Psych Fest shaped hole before their next gig in Lyon on 8/9. Well received in the Big Top last year, reckon they're nailed on for a secret set in the Tipi.
    • Didn't they widen the entrance last year to enable them to increase the number of pitches or have I imagined this? Perhaps they might return under a different form of glamping?    Just had another thought - Or even rent the land to the festival for CV pitches.......
    • It should forever be the Tipi.   Just as the news about Geese was shared on Twitter.
    • It really surprised me that Rock AM Ring made Download feel like an extremely well organised festival with good communication in comparison. If we were to ever try either of them again we would go for IM Park and stop in Nuremberg.     Agree that the long thin mainstage isn't great, but where the mainstage is makes it really hard to navigate when it is busy because of that choke point created by the food vendors, bar/lounges with a view of main and where the crowd is coming form second stage. The concrete is hard on the joints. The front standing is a pisstake and the communication from the fest about what is happening on site other than which campsites are filling up leaves a lot to be desired. Car parks being a free for all doesn't help either.   I think it really suffers being so far from anything other than small towns/villages that lack proper public transport and Koblenz being the closest town which you can can use to get public transport to the fest being 60km away.
    • Yeah its absolutely on me that isn't think Shinia Twain was an awful choice- i get that.  Im still of the paul simon, ELO kind of thoughts but I realise things change. Im still intrigued what constitutes legend though. Robert plant played and he wasn't a legend slot- to me that would have fitted. Is it a ' comedy ' ' good time ' slot now? Comedy isn't the right word - guilty pleasure or something like that?
