http://www.nme.com/news/music/glastonbury-reveal-new-area-for-2017-and-book-twice-as-many-bands-1978755

I know a lot of the info in this article is already known, but Emily saying 'We've made a couple of bookings tonight' caught my eye. If the NME is to be believed (I know!), who was at the awards that she might be referring to?

if they really made some bookings it's likely to have been sorted with agents and not bands.

So, if they have booked twice as many bands the options are:

- twice as many stages

- stages are open for the twice the time

- bands are getting half the set time

- any combination of the above

It could be that what she meant was that they've booked twice as many bands as this time last year but left it vague as it sounds better but she wouldn't do that - would she??

Or the fifth option: standard Eavis hyperbole.

I think it means that they have booked a lot of bands that would've probably played next year if Glasto was on, but may have had to accept lower slots to be able to play this year.

Thats pretty damn exciting. I'm expecting a very strong lineup, with lots of quality early on.

I agree we're in for a strong year. I don't think there'll be any more music than usual, but it's entirely possible we could have several bands/artists who could realistically sub. Look at Barry Gibb and Diana Ross, for example. It's quite possible we could get both this year, whereas either could easily take the legend slot.

Honestly - if they have:

Gibb

Gaga

D-Ro

Brian Wilson

(and Green Day, albeit that one strikes me as least likely)

all showing up in supporting roles then they can take a bow.

Factor in recent developments re Toots and The Jacksons and my cup overfloweth.

We should remember that given the lack of money chucked their way that it can be as strong as they want it as long as artists agree to play. I think DiRo will be 4th down and Gibb probably 6th.

It's the final sub I can't be definite of.

But RH, FF, Ed, The XX, Gaga, someone else fair big? Barry Gibbons and Brian Wilson that is big. Add the unlikely in my view too GD.

I didn't think they announced the resale until after balance payments have closed.

Balance payments are due in the first week of April, they've usually told us the resale date well before then if I remember correctly

Edit: apologies @kalifire, thanks to the power of the Thingy I can see that the last few resale date announcements were:

2016: 8th April

2015: 8th April

2014: 31st March

2013: 18th March

Have they announced when the resale will be yet? If they haven't it must be imminent, surely? Maybe @Gnomicide can provide some non-patterned facts?

Resale date won't be announced until after balance week.

Hypothetically if everyone paid their balances then there would be no resale.

    • I agree but anyone under Rodrigo would be a sub in reality, that day would sell out in under an hour whoever is subbing, in which case Wolf Alice would make a lot of sense   The more unrealistic part of the scenario at this point is Rodrigo headlining
    • All you can say is...     If he couldn't convince nations that really would've benefitted from the short-term hit of an up-front £50mil payment by this time next year, what hope did he have?   Guess we'll now just have to monitor and see if this could derail Infantino's plans to be re-elected FIFA President next year.
    • Spider-Man: Brand New Day   Highlight was a bloke reacting to the post-credit scene by going "Holy f**k it's Tobey Maguire!" despite the scene having no reference to him at all. Which made my close-to-full screening of the film laugh a lot.   Film was pretty good. It was interesting as much as an exploration of the ramifications of the end of No Way Home and being about isolationism and male loneliness, which I thought it actually did quite well. Though I do ponder if I liked it as much as the other 3 Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. Sadie Sink was good tbf, while I also liked Jon Bernthal as Punisher, enough that I might go watch his Disney+ shows.   Seem to have had a Marvel kick recently having also watched Thunderbolts and Shang-Chi, both of which I thought were pretty good.
    • Wolf Alice won't get headliner for Reading either, they will sub if they play, that is where their level has stopped I feel. Both TFG and Skyvip for the big shows this year was just a stretch too far. Every headliner this year is bigger than them too I'd say.   Agree with Capaldi I don't think Yungblud will be at Reading. I would guess Bludfest 3 or Download.
