I don't think we'll get a individual stage announcements this time. While I enjoyed it last time around I think it was more a symptom of the rather hectic planning last year, this year with things being sorted much earlier I think we'll get a big stage by stage poster, timings and such in late May/June.

to be honest its just getting irritating now, theyve reached that point where excitement starts to give way to frustration, I can totally understand delaying the announcement until all tickets have gone.....but after that what further reasoning is there to justify the delay? people would like to be able to plow into the lineup in full, listen to new acts, plan clashfinders etc....so just hurry the hell on with it eavis!

To be fair they may very well have been planning to drop the poster on Thursday until Prince died, then it's unlikely that it would be posted over the weekend. I can't lie if it's not posted this week I'll be disappointed but even so we've had stuff early this year. Just relax guy.

Its just the being in constant limbo that I find irritating, and early or not the festival is 2 months away now, theyve delayed enough.

If you look at the announcements from past years, they are actually well ahead of the average schedule. How have they delayed it?

This happens every year. The full lineup doesn't come out til May most years but still people get angry in April when they don't have it. It's like getting angry at them for not pushing the festival forward to May because we're too excited. This is just how it works.

They said by the end of April. April hasn't ended yet so put your toys back in the pram.

The announcement isn't the kind of thing you can wait for. It'll sneak up on you, put it's hand on your shoulder then whisper in to your ear "it's time"

This sounds like an unfortunate prison cell relationship.

That does go against what Emily said though

Not necessarily. Emily's quote (someone reposted it last week) suggested that they would be doing stage by stage announcements in April to showcase the depth of the lineup. Which is why I think they"ll start coming this week. They are leaving it late though!

I mean they clearly have the info by now but they are choosing not to release it

Where is the evidence for this?

Em is about to have another sprog so it's totally understandable if they've put announcing the smaller acts for their festival which requires no promotion whatsoever to the back of their minds tbh

Resigned to hearing anything significant before the end of the month. It's just coming on here everyday and only having the same bands to read about does increase the frustration. I seem to be really psyched for the festival even earlier this year.

Anyway, we've got the new map to pore over at the mo, so I shall content myself with that.

I've just listened to the Emily interview with the BBC (found here if anyone wants it http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03pgdzj )

the exact wording was

"we're going to announce stage by stage in April so people can really see the kind of depth of the line up"

later she says

"you have to be careful with who you put the first announce and just to reassure everything is come out next, the next step is going to be a vast number of bands"

to me that sounds like when they do start going stage by stage there going to go big and give us the lot, all stages with all the bands

Sorry if this already got posted, but this could give an idea to how much of the lineup we can expect:

That would seem to suggest that we'll have the 2nd poster in April, rather separate state-by-stage announcements.

Arcadia lineup isn't usually on the 2nd poster, and if GFL were announcing each stage/area separately, you'd expect Arcadia to be among them.....

Arcadia has traditionally always been a bit of a last minute announcement anyway. and yes it would always come with the "full" lineup which will be late may ish as it always is.

2nd poster end of this month full lineup end of may, bit of area drip feeding in between. pretty standard procedure

Definitely think the big poster is coming tomorrow.

Either Emily is outright lying, or we're getting a big poster this week.

I think "outright lying" is a little harsh :-) With an operation the size of Glastonbury I'm sure there are unforeseen circumstances that prevent everything from going to plan, including the timing of announcements. Given their track record I think Michael and Emily would be better off not committing to any kind of promise regarding lineup as even the most throwaway statements get over analysed and they're subsequently criticised for not fulfilling their promises
