What we all dressing as if Billy Joel is booked? I reckon I can knock up a 'Baby Grand' Outfit in time for June, it'll be a bit wide mind.

Guess I'd have to go as Captain Jack.

Or maybe Barry White.

I don't particularly like Elo but they have a plethora of singalong songs. My beef is they're all much of a muchness. He could easily do twelve songs that 90 % of people in the whole of glastonbury could sing the chorus to.

They may not know that they're Elo songs, but they'll know the chorus.

Then I'm in the 10%.  I can't even sing along to the songs I recognise.

Because hes playing in London on the Thursday, its his last ever tour and hes perfect for the redcoat loving Sunday day trippers. Glasto could actually be his last ever gig going by the tour dates. And he would've seen what Lionels performance did for record sales last year.

He will not flush unfortunately though, correct. Like a lamb for lunch, beef for dinner next day shit.

We need to face the facts here and plan around it. The Sunday Legends slot is Barry fucking Manilow.

Even with the Museplay thing, I don't think Glastonbury are that stupid - Manilow would be an embarrassment for everyone involved. Besides, we used the tourdates thing to convince ourselves it would be Frankie Valli or something for this year and it ended up being someone that was touring months before.

....You're a lucky fella then!  You'll get to discover them all for the first time :)

You misunderstand me.  I've listened to some of the songs and find them utterly unremarkable.  The songs I recognise from the discussions on here like Mr Blue Sky I don't find catchy enough to be able to repeat the melody as it's played.

I must have had a childhood accident involving ELO's greatest hits, they leave me completely cold, in one ear and out the other. I ran a poll a few weeks ago to try to make sense of the huge disconnect between those of you who seem to think ELO are a massive mainstream act and my own experience.  I thought it was age related, but the results turned out to be fairly inconclusive.

I hope the rest of you get to enjoy them though, those songs clearly appeal to a lot of you.

maybe if Glastonbury is going to be solely made up of 50 year old men who read the Telegraph.

Manilow would be interesting only as an experiment in seeing exactly how low I'd stoop to enjoy the shit served up to me on a Sunday.

Did anyone see Lionel on TFI last night by the way? That face man, he looks like he's wearing a Bo Selecta head. Who actually looks in the mirror after having that work done to them and thinks, 'yup, look much better now'.

I said the same thing. Bo Selecta Craig David meets Mickey Rourke.

I think I'd prefer Manilow to Sumner.

That last album he did, where he put the fake geordie accent on.... the bloke grew up in Wallsend, how does he not know his own accent?

It was shit as well. As were The Police, save a few tracks. As is most of his solo stuff.

Show us on the doll where the ELO melodies touched you.

There's an interview with/about The Bay City Rollers in the Scotsman floating about, and they talk about Glastonbury in it and how it has a heritage slot, and how they've been talking to festivals

Sounds like more Leo Sayer nonsense really

    • It does feel like there's a push back against net zero from both left and right, but especially the right. Probably since Trump I guess, but even before Trump you had the tea party and Sarah Palin thing, but over here the right were on board with the issue of climate change and the need to address it, from Thatcher through to Johnson. That has now changed, first it was the populist right, not it is mainstream, with Badenoch making the two prerequisites for standing for the Tories being against net zero, and for leaving the ECHR. You can be an ex neo-nazi as long as you are against net zero. At least many now seem to accept the climate change is happening and it is caused by us, but they now say well it will be a nice mediterranean climate so lets bin net zero anyway and just have fun f**k all that woke green sh*t. But also the left, with various trade union leaders and blue labour types going on about net zero being bad for the economy and the need for reindustrialisation as we head back to the glory days of the 50s when we all worked down pit or something, ignoring the amount of industries and jobs created by net zero. The greens obviously are still firmly behind the net zero thing, but the party is also full of nimbys who are worried about hedgerows and hedgehogs and votes, and even the leadership have realised that there isn't votes in climate doomerism but there definitely is in bashing billionaires and Israel. I guess the main driver of net zero policies in the country is still Miliband which is probably why everyone seems to be f**king terrified of him, the mad freak and his renewables. He is out of the energy department, but his replacement is hardly a petrolhead, and he isn't in the treasury doing terrifying things like spending money, but he is in the foreign office which is maybe a good place for him because climate change is a global issue and its going to take a global effort.
