I did V97, safe to say the festival has changed much since then.

I've heard that you are very likely to get piss thrown at you - can anyone who's actually been qualify this?

In 97, some prick pissed on my tent while I was in it. When I got out to confront him, he just smirked at me as he was backed up by half a dozen mates and I was on my own.

I went to V stafford 2008 - 2012 and tbh piss throwing not any more than any other festival, Leeds is worse imo

They are definitely going for the poptastic market and it will probably work as it's like a starter intro for festival attending - some camping but only 2 days, music, sh*t beer etc. it gets a lot of flak from this forum but it isn't as bad as people make out...

Would I go near it these days heck no but that is due to lineup, but if they pulled a lineup I liked I would go again as easy to see shed loads of bands and jump between stages over the weekend, which if you are only going to see bands it works

How much is that?  I've never seen any in 11 Glastonburys and about 5 in one Stone Roses gig.  If there's any, then it's probably more than Glastonbury.

well in 5 V festivals I've seen it twice, but at Leeds I see it several times every festival I went too... the question was if piss throwing was pretty much bang on occurrence at V and my reply is no I don't think it is based on my own visits there

I know Glastonbury is better but as I say people make V sound far worse than it actually is IMO

'There's not that much piss throwing, honestly' isn't the most compelling defence I've heard.

How do people know whether it's pish or beer? Do you follow the trail and get the litmus paper out?

Temperature.  I took a warm cup to the shoulder at Reading a few years back.  I just shrugged it off, to be honest, figured I probably already smelled pretty bad by that point in the weekend and the sun soon dried it out.

Well that's that then!

Actually, ignore me, I'm getting my dates wrong. Still doubtful mind.

Well, one may be more likely to throw a warm unused beer than a fresh cold one.

My pal got hit on the head with a pissy one at the Arctic Monkeys at Old Trafford, there was no doubting it by the smell...

I'd be surprised if they weren't headlining Glastonbury if they are announcing gigs this size.

I bloody hope so anyway.

Its still their 'own' event though, so a full payday.

It could mean no low money festival shows, or it could mean they can afford to take a 'day off' at Glastonbury for the hell of it.

That's the Thursday after the festival. So it doesn't rule them out.

Although I don't actually think they'll play

Depends if they could get their crew and gear from GF to New York in time.

I've given up on them playing, instead I'm hoping they announce a small London gig or two in the build up to this Summer.

I've been hit by piss a couple of times.  You do just know (while outwardly assuring yourself and your mates it's just lager).  Never at Glastonbury though and I've never seen it happen.

No, I've seen it at stadium gigs, Reading and Phoenix.  At Glastonbury people used to throw fruit though, both The pet shop boys in 2000 and Dogstar in 1999 had varying degrees of fruit throwing, Dogstar was particularly entertaining, with a magnificent shot to the fretboard with a well aimed peach being the highlight of the gig.

which one did you go to? I went to the northern one that year and thought it was pretty good all round (apart from the weather!)

Same here. I was surprised at how much fun it was actually. Line up helped of course but I reckon it gets a different crowd to the Southern one, not being near London and not on TV
