I hope they don't announce another headliner- I like still being able to desperately hope they have a surprise of a headliner rather than Adele or Muse..

If its coldplay, muse and adele surely that's a total joke, couldn't think of much duller bookings... Muse in there as the "brave, edgy, experimental" act, hilarious

I've given up on them playing, instead I'm hoping they announce a small London gig or two in the build up to this Summer.

it's an indoor show, so they wouldn't really need to transport anything other than instruments and their crew. MSG could provide the backline and all lighting etc.

so it's basically 1 plane ride away, no time constraints. even if they did want to bring all their own stuff, it would only be a 6hr flight away...

Could the Roses feasibly play elsewhere on the Glastonbury bill? I would have always assumed they could only headline the pyramid?

I cant imagine them anywhere else. They would* be a pyramid headliner.

Unless it was a secret set I don't think they could do anything apart from headline, they're way too big.

Saying that, I don't think they will be there this year.

Roses won't play this year, i would love to be wrong but can't see it happening. New music will be dropped before their own gigs though. Seems as though they are more concerned about the pay day once again this year. They feasibly could play next year though once their new stuff has had enough air time and they have finished their own pay day. They wont play anywhere other than Pyramid headline though. Unless they somehow agreed to a secret set which i can't see happening. Plus if i was going to see them at Glastonbury i'd prefer to see them on the pyramid. Its a dream i can cling to (probably for a long time)

Although I agree that many acts including the Roses think that Glastonbury doesn't pay enough, this has to be quite an illogical stance.  The fee they get may be well less than other festivals, but the exposure and cache translate into record sales - surely this makes it a worthwhile investment for them...?

Except the Roses are shite live, exposure translating into record sales is linked to the quality of the performance in my mind so I doubt they'd fair too well. There is also the argument that bands make less from record sales than they do from touring, so for the Roses I can see why they wouldn't be arsed about Glastonbury & chase the guaranteed big pay days.

Whilst all the above is true, you have to ask yourself why they'd book a MSG show less than a week after a Glasto show.

Some parts of the Roses show (when Brownie doesn't sing) are spectacular. Squire, Mani and Reni can really get a groove going.

The trick at any Roses gig is to get really drunk and sing louder than Ian Brown when he opens his gob.

I've always seen 4th down on The Other stage between Feeder and Years & Years as the perfect slot for them to be honest

They were so much better than I expected a couple of years ago. Brown actually sang in tune and everything.

I was there that day (Reading 96) and even I had to walk away, was a shocker, not even the proper Roses. V Festival 2012 and Finsbury Park 2013 however they were superb.

They were awful when I saw them in 2012 headlining Nos Alive festival in Lisbon. The crowd weren't into it anywhere near as much as a UK crowd would be so the vocal performance from Ian was painfully clear for all to hear.

A great band don't get me wrong, the debut is up there with the best of them but I wouldn't go out of my way to see them live again.
