Surely the bands that aren't announced yet will be getting a bit miffed, as there is becoming less and less time for us to get familiar with them before the festival.

We've have a month + of getting familiar with the acts on the initial poster, and would guess the majority of us have found somebody they wouldn't mind watching who they hadn't previously considered.

This then obviously leads to people potentially purchasing tickets for their own tour, album, merchandise etc.

I realise the next batch will be 'smaller acts', but that in itself would make my point more applicable.

Haha, I think you're really pushing it there.

Am I?

With so much choice at festivals, and especially Glastonbury, how am I potentially going to be aware of a band without knowing that they're playing?

I'd say there is 6/7 acts announced so far that I'd never previously heard of, and after YouTube'ing them I've since gone on and purchased their album from iTunes.

Now if I didn't notice them on the poster of them playing at Glastonbury, I wouldn't have been in this position.

I'm not saying it's the be all and end of from the bands point of view, and I'm sure they're just happy to be booked to be playing, but if I were a smaller band I'd certainly went my name out there, as it's the biggest and most famous festival in the world.

I agree entirely.

I have always had my best festival times watching smaller bands that I didn't know before they were announced, then have done lots of homework, fallen in love with them and they've become bands-for-life.

Most recent example is Adult Jazz from Green Man last year. Had I not seen them on the poster and investigated, I would likely never have found them at the festival and their record would not have become AOTY for me last year.

It's for this reason mainly, that I wish Glastonbury was not so different to other festivals. I do, of course, acknowledge that there are different ways to do things, and that that's part of what makes GF so special. But...

You're probably going to still have about four weeks to listen to them, is that not long enough? Have you exhausted the current playlist already because I certainly haven't? Stop throwing your toys out the pram and have some patience.

Whatever happened to Mike99? I've been a long time reader of the forum but if he was infact a troll, he was the best one. People have to much time on their hands if they have time to troll. You would never see that kind of bollocks happen down the pub (I guess it depends on the pub.) I'm feeling old at the grand age of 27!

To echo previous points I also love going through the lineup and discovering new bands, but from the initial poster there was only 3 acts I hadn't heard of so there wasn't much discovering to be done. Now thanks to this site I have been able to discover new bands from the TBC list, so at least that's something.

He'd been baiting people with pro-Tory posts too tbf

This place isn't my gig so it's nowt to do with me, but strong political opinions and cajoling are par for the course on the internet.

Anyhoo, it'll be next week the biggie I reckon.

Whilst I'm not in the habit of defending trolls or tories, if A13 was banned for what he did yesterdaythen it.seems a little harsh imho.

Christ, how did Mike99 manage so long on here.

Mike never let on that he was lying. This guy revelled in it.

People wouldn't wind others up for their amusement at the pub?

In the 'glastonbury then I'm emigrating' thread, I can confirm that A13 was a bad knob head... At least the others were having a discussion, he was just being antagonistic, fully deserved ban after all his cumulative bellendery if he has been banned.

i'm going for a week today for the full 60 odd stage affair. i think realistically its going to come weds or thurs next week (tuesday day after bank holiday = less likely, no to a friday announcement)

otherwise leaving it till the first week in june would only give 3 measly weeks till the gates open!! if they were waiting till june it would probably mean the stage times as well.

stage times at least in the week commencing 8th June to give 2 weeks.

I'll go for Monday 1st for the "big reveal".. only as 3 weeks before to only know what we know would be odd.

We will probably drip fed information from areas up to then.

The glade, beat hotel and possibly a big stage like west holts or park give us more names
