I find this hard to believe. Very hard to believe. But as of yet we have little justification for why Neil has made The Who TBC, other than he said it sounds like the rumours are true.

Does the forum post look legit, or it someone winding up fans?

It's from someone who's been a member there for 2 years, and who actually has tickets to the Paris gig on the 29th, although no idea what his source is.

Fuck it. I'll prolly bawl my eyes out for Baba.

You come to terms with this really happening? Still can't see it, myself.

(I'll more than likely be wrong, but still...)

The headliners saga this year has been insane. Each time you think it has peaked on the crazy scale, an even MORE mental scenario emerges. And this one has an Efests TBC backing it up!

Yeah after coldplaygate can we really trust this one?

Neil's cred goes out the window if he goes TBC on incorrect shouts twice in one year. As Keef once famously said mate, "Dig The Who."

I don't like bringing up football on here as it often turns into an argument, but..

I think I read you support newport (if thats wrong sorry) but still:

Terry Butcher is announced as their manager. If a few weeks before the season he says "Sod it, Im going to Derby" what would you think to that?

Same principle.

In all fairness his record isn't too great, so I don't think they'd be too gutted. I think they'd understand.

According to a post on thewho.com forum, they're not only cancelling the Paris 28th show, they're also moving the 29th to the 30th!

As I said a while back, they apparently pulled a similar trick last year, cancelling dates in Dublin & Belfast about a month beforehand in order to go and play a (presumably more lucrative) show in Abu Dhabi.

funny how they didn't come out with this info before the Sun's story about Glasto

I think it would be really sad if Glasto were prepared to fuck over 6000 music fans just to get their headliner. I didn't think and we have always been led to believe they didn't behave like that.

Perhaps they just panicked over the Kanye reaction and thought they needed to be sure.

They could easily have gone for a NG/Flo co headline which while not pleasing many people on here would have been perfectly adequate IMO.

If The Who do turn up and have let down their real fans I think that's quite sad.

Moreso I believe because of Coldplay, Neil wouldn't risk fucking up again especially in the same year as Coldplay. If he gets 2 TBCs wrong in one year then that'll hurt efestivals reputation a hell of a lot so Neil must be pretty damn confident it's them.

That said Neil has been pretty quiet about it all, the news article says 'The Sun says..." compared to when he wrote about Coldplay and it read 'We believe that it's Coldplay...". Neil hasn't said once yet that he believes it's The Who just that other sources have said it so he must be having some doubts.

The moment he says he believes it's The Who then I'm pretty certain he knows it's them.

I'm hungover as fuck so I have no idea if that makes sense, if you don't get my point I'll try to word it better

I'd disagree there, The Who have many more recognisable hits than Prince. More for me than The Stones too, but that may be down to my preference. Macca is in a different tier altogether, but you can't say that The Who don't have the hits.

flicked through the the newest greatest hits cd earlier:

Won't Get Fooled Again

Who Are You

My Generation

Pinball Wizard

The Seeker

Baba O'Reilly

they were the only songs i recognised.

knew the names of a few others but couldn't tell you what they sound like and have already forgotten how they go.

Shite stuff from both Glastonbury and The Who if they've actually done this.

Fucking over 6000 fans when there's already an adequate headliner lower down the bill (and maybe another one if Noel's there)? Jesus.

this does appear to be an odd situation where i'd rather see florence headline.

Yeah that's my thoughts on it too. I've not exactly hid that I wanted Florence to headline but giving an act like her a chance at a headline spot seems better than booking The Who again while fucking over 6000 fans in the process.

Just an idea with The Who cancellation, is there any chance they'd combine the 2 Paris dates into a larger venue on the Monday with previously purchased Sunday tickets still valid?!

Still think (if true) it's shit of them the way they've treated the 6000, but can't say I'm disappointed as have never been able to afford their own tours!
