A band that seems to have dropped off the radar of people's thinking on here for Sunday headliner, who's tour dates fit around Glastonbury perfectly, legendary in every sense of the word.

The Who

Yes, it goes against the "Foos are the big rock act this year" quote from Emily but apart from that I can't see any reason why they shouldn't be listed as a possibility for the Sunday night especially with some of the other names being bandied about.

Another part of me is hoping that the ambiguous quote "unlikely to be this month" is that they are waiting for IoW to sell out before announcing Fleetwood Mac as the Sunday headliner therefore getting around the exclusive deal. But that is pure wishful thinking and the most unlikely of scenarios going around.

Other than that I would settle for Prince or E.L.O.

Why haven't I seen the Red Hot Chili Peppers' name thrown around, too? Have they even played before?

and them having to do 3 nights in a row.

if they were going to play glastonbury, they wouldn't have added the london shows on the Friday/Saturday.

I've mentioned Chili's a couple times. They're in the UK a week before glasto and have nothing until September when I looked

I thought it could be likely, but that view doesn't seem likely as there's some info about eavis being hesitant to sign after they pulled out in 93.

I'd love it to be Kate Bush, but that show she did at Hammersmith wouldn't work on the Pyramid, and I can't see her scaling it back.

No reason to believe it's not madge (but no real reason to think it is either)...

I think there are a few clues to point to Madge

1) She has an Album to promote

2) She has a tour to promote

3) Is now likely to be large gig ready

4) Eavii want her to play

5) She is doing an interview with Jo Whiley next week at 8pm, perfect time to drop an announcement, I also think she finished her UK interviews a few weeks ago so this one seems a bit out of place

6) She would suit the specification of being something for the locals (but then most names would)

7) She isn't played on Radio 1 so fits the something for Radio 2 listeners bracket

Would be good for the TV and worldwide coverage, raising glasto profile, not that it needs it.

My concerns though are:

1) she might not take a small pay, no idea how charitable she is

2) she is a control freak, not sure she would like performing on a stage she cant rehearse on and sound check in full, although if beyonce can then maybe she can?

3) Neil has a source who knows someone close to her and they say she isnt doing it, but would they really tell if she was?

I dont know, one minute I'm utterly convinced its Madonna the next i'm thinking its too big it must be someone more akin to Pharrell, Paulo Nutini or Ed Sheeran....

I was other way round. Penn used to regularly show his unpleasant side publicly. Ok it was usually against journalists and paparazzi but it showed he had it in him...

He's in the states and it would mean him flying back and forth for one gig. Not impossible but extremely unlikely.

And his wembley shows are touted as his only uk appearance this year.

Other than that...... yeah he could do it!

He's in America that weekend. A couple of people seem to think he's still possible as there's time to fly back for the Sunday but I don't see it. His Wembley gigs are his only UK gigs this year as well.

Because while it'd be -just- technically possible for him to to get to the festival and back, his tour schedule would make it incredibly unlikely with adjacent shows on the West Coast of America.

Clapton, not sure about - but if Kanye doesn't fit in with the ethos of Glasto, Clapton certainly doesn't, what with his previous declarations of admiration for Enoch Powell, and declaring that Britain was becoming a "black colony", and that he wanted "the foreigners back".

And sorry to say, I'd find the Chili Peppers a disappointing headliner. I've always been a massive fan, but they are just not the same band without John Frusciante! He's one of my all time heroes, so I might be a bit more biased, but their last album just was by and large a disappointment, and it was always going to be hard to replace a guy who is one of the best guitarists around, who had become such a driving force in the band!

Used to enjoy the chili peppers myself and saw them a few times. Never again after their 'performance' at Leeds Festival in 2007.

The National? They're one of the best respected bands in the world, have a giant back catalogue which is almost all pure gold, regularly headline other festivals and are are brilliant live. They're Pyramid subbers or Other headliners.

I mean come on, Jake Bugg headlined the Other Stage last year. Jake Bugg! Hahahahahaahahahahaha *falls off chair sideways*

They'd probably be my favourite act on the bill if they played, but they're still probably Other subs right now. Maybe headline it after a new album but I'm not sure. Definitely not strong Pyramid subs. They had a nothing crowd at Leeds in 2011, and there's a picture of them playing Oxegen around then with about three rows in the crowd.

Apparently Clapton was in talks to play in 2007 after meeting the Eavises at a party, but didn't (for whatever reason). I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility.
