Do the National have a serious chance of playing? (Not headlining, just playing) I missed out on them last time. I can't remember who they clashed with.

I'd like to make up for that

I was absolutely convinced they were going to play last year but they didn't so hard to say really. Reasons to play seem less strong this year.

Me too. Them and Sigur Ros. The National actually apologised for not being able to be there and said they'd be back soon. I took that to mean this year, but then they finished up with the TWFM tour.

They are playing a festival in Spain in a couple of months though...

Aaron Dessner is curating the Eaux Claires festival with Justin Vernon which The National and Bon Iver are both also headlining in mid July, so don't think they would get a chance to do much else! Shame - would love both at Glasto! The National were amazing in 2010! Absolute highlight for me that year!

Yep, looked nailed on for both of them, two of my favourite bands in my favourite place..... then someone stuck a pin in my balloon! :(

It's mad how many people are convinced it's Florence and the Machine considering its been denied by Emily Eavis! I know there was the "but she could be", but it sounds extremely unlikely to me.

Completely true but we can almost say there are more good reasons to say it isn't any act than to say it is them.

Stone roses not active, radiohead members touring elsewhere, blur ruled themselves out, take that only three members (and likely guest appearance from robbie ruled out as he's elsewhere), taylor's tour dates and neil suggesting she is less likely, tour dates, michael and mick ruling out fleetwood mac, prince is prince etc. etc. No reason to believe it's not madge (but no real reason to think it is either)...

Prince subbed by Taylor Swift. I dreamt it last night. Put them as TBC Neil.

I literally can't imagine 2 acts of that size that I would rather see. That's pretty much my dream Sunday there and would finally get me to see some acts on the Pyramid. It'd be truly amazing.

A questione: we seem to be waiting for the big act on Sunday, but what if the "big acts" were Foos and KW?

Have they ever released the smallest/step-up headliner last of the headliners (genuine question)?

I think if we are to get that they'd have to be very confident on the other stage headliners and subs (presuming announced together) being big news, otherwise they may be risking the line-up announcement not going that well with the masses/media/twitter folk

But the organiser saying it isn't them is more of a valid reason to categorically rule her out? I'm quite sadistically liking this not having a clue who it will be (although that's now because I'm convinced we will find out next week or so - they seem to like dropping info on a Monday over the last few weeks). But I do take Emily Eavis saying it's not Florence as being less of a clue, more of a simple fact! That's not to say she won't appear, but not as Sunday's headliner!

Still thinking it could be the purple one, but not with any certainty, more hope!

The lineup itself will be big enough news that there won't be much of a problem with that, it would still get a lot of generally positive coverage.

If it is Florence that's the final headliner, then yes the reaction on here won't be great but it'll go down quite well overall.

There isn't a hope in hell The National are going to headline G, absolute 0 chance.

You just can't judge it on festivals abroad, Editors headlines Werchter, which is bigger than all of them it's probably the biggest mainland european festival, and are you telling me you'd think Editors could headline G

It's time to put the glue away and get realistic

calm down idiot, i never said they should headline. i said they're decent for top of the other stage or subbing on pyramid.

    • There’s a few in there which could go either way or I’m not bothered if I miss but think that’s now be pretty set.  Few rubbish clashes like Kasabian/Loyle plus Reytons/Pixies/CMAT but I’ll head with the lads to the most popular one.   (And yes no Byrne or Twigs, just can’t into either)
    • I saw somewhere they were advertising Lewis' day as him live on Glagow Green and only mentioned Amy Mcdonald and CMAT as support, 0 mention of the festival  I completely agree this will probably be the last one which is a shame because the first 2 seemed so promising and now its turned into middle of the road rubbish with acts you can see everywhere else  Anyone know if the BBC are covering it next week as it'll be fascinating to see how full (or empty) it is
    • Did anyone catch Viagra Boys last night? A rollicking good set, with a little more free jazz than I expected.   if you’re up early, Walabi is doing a super job in the Cupra Pulse. There till six.

    • They really dropped a bollock on their lineup this year. They went with Richard Ashcroft because he did well as Oasis support - But realistically, you're not getting 50k people in a field to hear the 4 or 5 songs they know at like £70+ a ticket. Can't get my head around the Kasabian booking, either. Finsbury Park was a bold move for them, and yes it sold out, but I think you're more likely to see people make the journey to London if they want to see them rather than Glasgow. A second similar capacity show was always going to be a big ask for them.
