Why is everyone mud slinging at IOW?! Different horses for different courses and all that

Yeah you're right. It's a great festival! Behind Glastonbury only in Britain for me.

I think there's some anger towards them having announcements today before Glastonbury - when everyone on here has been waiting/hoping for it all week.

Random side story, I was chatting to a girl in the queue to Thekla last night and she noticed my wristbands and asked where they were from. I said Glastonbury and she tutted at me "That's just full of old people, I much prefer Reading." I was horrified.

What would you prefer, the same drivel of swift, roses, prince, madonna etc etc. if your not allowing people to discuss the major music festival news story of the day for a few minutes then I'm worried.

Think You may have read a little too much into my post.

Away from all the IOW stuff.

I'm thinking nextweek for headliner for sure!

I don't think it will be before Sunday as that's when the clocks go forward which is officially "spring" right?

And on the website it says it will be announced in "spring".

I'm totally overthinking this.....

I've heard about 4 different dates be described as 'officially the start of spring' over the last few weeks

Hahaha that did make me laugh, its like the opposite to when I mention Glastonbury at work, "Isn't that full of kids getting wrecked and being rowdy?"

They really do need a rule... .

I think the start of Spring is surely the equinox on the 20th/21st March but on Sunday BST begins...

And April is muvvaf*cking Spring!

According to the Met Office (So can we let Emily know it's OK to do the big announcement now please?):

  1. The next astronomical spring begins on 20 March 2015 and runs until21 June 2015. The astronomical calendar determines the seasons due to the 23.5 degree tilt of the Earth's rotational axis in relation to its orbit around the sun. Both equinoxes and solstices are related to the Earth's orbit around the sun.

She might have a point. I thought a Thekla was a mild curry

Do we think this announcement is going all the way to the bitter end or will there be one loose lips who can't resist to spill the beans before HQ does.

With everyone involved from Web designers, bookers and promoters to dj's and media darlings the number of people who know must now run into the 100's

I think 'spring' is used just as a way to keep us at bay until this point in time. Surely the reality is that they structure everything around their payment system, media attention and keeping Glastonbury in the minds of deposit-holders while all around every other festival is revealing more than they are. I don't think the seasons of the year have anything to do with it.

The problem I have with the astronomical seasons is it has Summer starting at the solstice or midsummer. In my mind it's Spring whilst your planting things in the garden.

    • Based on previous times that rules quite a lot out of early summer festivals into the August runs.
    • No dramas man, I just like to follow others journeys as well. Get the inspiration, give out inspiration and the outdoors is the clear the head place to do it. I'm heading out for a easy trail run today I think, 10k- 10 mile we'll see how we go. I've got a half marathon in October I'm well unprepared for hahs
    • The Cheap Thrills at Mountford Hall, Liverpool.    They've been around for a while and have built up a large local following. Last night was their biggest yet, at a sold out 2,200 capacity venue.    It was a big old joyous, indie singalong from start to finish, the band clearly having the time of their lives. The debut album is out next month and they seem to be going down well on the festival circuit, maybe their time has finally come.   2 supports, I unfortunately missed Credits but the few songs they have on Spotify sound good, Americana vibes. The other was M60, reportedly Gary Neville's favourite band. If that's true, he's as clueless about music as he is football. To be fair, their sound was poor, maybe with a clearer sound they'd have been better but it was pretty dull.
    • I can see them all merging along with the Tory’s . Restore curently couldn’t muster enough candidates to be a viable option . I lasted 4 mins and couldn’t watch any more . Lowe is just dull along with racist
