To me it appears that he was talking about blur doing IOW but it caused confusion on here because his comment appeared 2 mins after the site posted that blur were doing IOW on the news page

This is spot on.

He's talking about IOW

Yeah that makes sense. Just strange since it was 10 minutes after they were announced.

Neil's reference was Blur for IOW.

Those of us who are old enough and haven't totally fucked our memories might remember Mark Thonas on TV getting politicians to talk about things they knew nothing about. It showed how easily MPs would lie for exposure on the telly.

He had Margaret Hodge on who had never heard of Blur. After he briefed her they went on air. He asked who she always currently listening to. "Well Mark, at the moment I'm listening to popular beat combo Blur".

I wasn't aware it was being announced at 8am, only that the announcement was today.

when I made that post I wasn't aware it had been announced - and I did double-check that a PR hadn't come in at that point (which it hadn't ... and still hasn't).

that was Chris Morris, not Mark Thomas.

Surprised there Neil, i went on their site yesterday afternoon, going into the main page it stated 'Saturday headliner to be announced at 8am on Friday on Absolute radio'!

Not having a go as i think you do a great job getting the info for us.

    • I still think they might take another shot at the normal weekend.    I'm also pretty sure this exact same speculation was happening after the last one.
    • Meanwhile in Chicago. Rained overnight at Lolla. Now they pushed back opening til the afternoon. But thunderstorms and lightning forecast. Maybe if the city invested in proper drainage they couldve tried to salvage the day.
    • Wasn't just me who thought it was either oversold or inadequately setup for the event then? For Pride, over the weekend, where there's also acts in the large blue marquee that was to the right of the "arena" (for want of a better term), it's probably much better as people are dispersed more. Thought the band were great, as was Nick, though he was clearly struggling with his voice at times.
    • I got in for £11.25 in the end, which was absolutely ridiculously good value, and made the queues and overselling of the venue much more tolerable! Sniping in on other people’s unwanted tickets on the day of an event might become my new hobby I think 🥳
    • Ann and Nancy Wilson are planning a final world tour for HEART starting next year. They were never at Glastonbury. They should do it.
