Yeah, we sort of missed out on that one as we just hung around the middle of the field and had a smoke and a chill after the Primals were so shit that it was only when the field had filled up around us that we realised how crowded it was.

The back of the field at Paul Simon also rates as one of the shittiest experiences I've had at Glastonbury.

Worst I've seen was for the Stones in 2013. Felt like the whole of Glastonbury was trying to squeeze into the Pyramid Field for that one. We were pretty near the front and literally couldn't move, me, my other half and couple of mates decided to sack it off and watch from the back. There was no way we'd have got out were it not for a mother with a pushchair(!!) trying to get out next to us so we followed her. To this day I'll never know what possessed that woman to take a pushchair that close to the Stones, but secretly I'm glad she did.

Once the Stones came on and the chair brigade stood up there was lots of room. I was up nearish the front (between the sound stage and the pit) and advanced about 100 feet during the first few tunes.

As loads of people around me did, due to a big group of complete stains, standing in a circle chatting very loudly and paying no attention whatsoever to the band.

I got caught in that. Just trying to pass through on the way back towards the tent and then Amy finished... Wasn't very pleasant at all. Headed back into watch Jay-Z once it had calmed down a bit.

Got stuck Saturday last year trying to get back to the tent via Silver Hayes - there was no way through so had to find "THEMUDDIESTPATHEVAH!" and go the loooong way round

anyone who wasn't put to sleep by Paul Simon needs their head examining.

As far as I can remember, there's no Pyramid set i've seen that matched Simon for dullness. Not even Bruce (tho that was because I couldn't stop laughing :P).

In his defence, didn't he say afterwards that he was a little ill that day?

Remember it being packed for Dolly last year too.

Dolly was nuts!

What made it worse was the amount of picnic people and chairs. I walked the Mrs over with the intent of leaving for a bimble during the set. It was so slow moving around the field I just stayed for the set............and it was as bad as I thought it would be and even made worse with the poor sound at the start and the use of comic saxophones for Yakety Sax (Benny Hill)...........

Although, having said that experiencing our 21 month old singing Jolene did make be smile a lot...........

I think he said it when he came on stage, or something. Anyway, it was, I felt, workmanlike (i.e dull)

Thats because you weren't at it!

But yeah, Simon was a snoozefest. And I've seen him before and really enjoyed it that time.

I like the one about whether seeing 5 minutes of a 3 hour show gives you enough time to judge an acts overall performance....

(It genuinely did keep me entertained over the autumn/winter of 2009 that thread)

    • I'm surprised they risked it, especially after nearly missing their Glasto 22 slot under similar circumstances  I did see someome say Ellie didnt sound as strong as recently but I'm guessing playing 3 shows in 2 different continents doesnt help that    On the topic though I can definitely see them doing a Fontaines and having a break over winter before a few final Clearing shows next summer
    • That's fair on WA - I did recall people thinking Fontaines would take this year off before this was announced.    On the subject of Wolf Alice, they did Lollapalooza in Chicago on Saturday then Kendal Calling last night. Bit of an odd choice, no? Half imagine at Kendal that they would've been just exhausted.
    • Just logged onto the app to start planning my days and there really are a LOT of stages missing. Apart from the Seaside Stage there is no Casemates this year etc. Apart from the Seaside Stage, there are no Casemates this year, etc. Can't see anything about the kids field really. And there's local acts that are normally there like Kojak's Revenge that aren't appearing either.  Normally we get down fairly early but I can't see anything before 3pm I'm keen to see. Only one real clash as well, which is good, but it's thin and it's not thin in the sense of "I've seen a lot of these acts before"
