this is a reason why people hate grohl. I dont really agree with it as I didnt think nirvana were that great, but this amused me a bit.

Here's why: it would be like if Jerry Garcia from the Grateful Dead had died and Mickey Hart formed another band, and when they played it sounded like the Dave Mathews band and all these preppy people got really into it, made him into a millionaire, and thought they were now deadheads, much better than those old grungy real deadheads. Thankfully the Grateful Dead generation never had to deal with that, but in the 90s everything was for sale. The youth of that generation, my generation, got to watch this beautiful Neo-hippie movement get smashed into crap like Bush, Dave Mathews, Oasis, Britney Spears and all kinds of other crap music produced by people that hated us and everything we stood for. And when the guy that was running the smashing machine, was the old drummer from Nirvana, well that was hard to take.

An interesting theory. I think the crucial thing is that I don't think there's any devious intention by Grohl to take advantage of his passt or to use it as some kind of platform. If you did then I can see how it's easy to paint him as some kind of villian who is disrespectful of something that he used to be part of, or some sort of contributor to the music industry and it's output turning into something reminiscent of an explosion in a shit factory (I think that's what that last point about the 'smashing machine' is getting at) over the last 15 years. The quote above seems to hold him responsible for something beautiful and private being destroyed and taken away, and that's quite a responsibility to lay on him.

Also I don't really think Foos sound particularly like Nirvana.

yeah that would be far preferable - the thought of a huge chunk of the setlist being taken up by other people's songs really irks me, especially when the setlist is in dire need of some rarity's / album tracks being played as it is

Shame that personally, White Limo is a right trashing tune if they get the crowd with it at the right time, they opened with it at reading a couple of years back it was massive!!

Cause he's gonna play on the fact he's been in Nirvana.

White Limo is a great song, although yeah, not too fussed on it being in the set. looking at their recent setlists, they seem to play an entire 4/5 song set of cover songs mid way through the set. that can fuck right off at Glastonbury please. one, maybe two cover songs is okay (although i'd still prefer none), but i'm there to see Foo Fighters, and want Foo Fighters songs

From memory of seeing the Foo Fighters and having a gander at setlists before those gigs, it's generally been mixed up quite a bit, pretty certain that between now and June it'll change a lot, plus they'll probably pull out a special one off setlist for Glastonbury.

the gigs they were playing before these ones were small, intimate shows where they played a lot of album tracks and fan favourites etc - the shows they're doing now (and up until Glastonbury) are all huge arena / stadium shows. bar one or two songs (mostly from the new album) the setlist will stay largely the same i feel. i can't see Glastonbury getting much different from what's being played now (although maybe they'll surprise us and pull a Reading '12 with an incredible and unexpected setlist)

Given that Glasto is basically right on the UK tour, you have no chance of many surprises. Maybe one or two here or there, but it'll be largely the same as the other gigs.

There's a difference between playing on it and people willingly showing interest in you because of it. Some people have said that he should have gone solo under an anonymous name and that just using his own name is knowingly cashing in - what an absolute load shit.

one source said nothing about where she might play but said I should presume that she's playing, and another source is presuming she's headlining.
