Last year seemed much better regarding the overcrowding. Still I wouldn't want them to increase the capacity, feels like they'd just undo the hard work they put in to remove the overcrowding

Last year was much better for crowds at the stages but where we camp in Paines was much fuller much earlier than normal, we were onsite by 9.30 and struggled to find space for 8 tents together whereas in previous years anytime before 12 was normally pretty easy so I definitely think they need more general camping and it would make sense to have more on the other side

Planning also makes you feel the crowds differently too.

They've really underestimated the draw of what I would call nostalgia acts like Avril Lavigne and TLC.
2022 did feel like the worst of it.

I’d agree with that. It was the same when Sugarbabes played. Absolutely rammed.

Something like Kerala is a fair question. It's pretty much one field as an Island in the middle of the festival fields being mentioned as likely to be enclosed. If the field remains unavailable for use by GFL, then they absolutely could still make provision for Kerala to keep running inside the annexe fence. It'd likely be the easier option than working around it.

Love Fields is potentially a different story. The landowner fell out with the festival / Eavis family big time, to the extent that the Eavis family had a restraining order against him, so that's not going to be in the conversation unless there's been a change (which is possible, most of the sh*t went down ~10 years ago and I don't even know whether the man in question is even still alive or still owns the fields).

Ref Love Fields I have it on good authority, from someone who has contacted them, that they are in consultation with GFEL about the proposed changes, and also that as they lease fields to the festival they have no need to be impacted or change their location.  How GFEL can move the fence back to Pylle Road but keep Love Fields outside it, if indeed they do, remains to be seen.....

I've stayed in love fields a couple of times over the years and the biggest draw is the proximity to gate C. You miss all the morning queue on the hill and its amazingly close to the site. If they keep it where it is but you then have to walk up the hill to get in it'll be of much less appeal. I could see a seperate entrance for them with EPO

Talking of measures to make it feel less crowded, I hope they keep the Other Stage arena the same as '25, it was far better for all acts, not just that it was able to accommodate Charli XCX against a not busy Pyramid.

Imagine what the Chemical Brothers could do with that setup.

For those of us not there in 2025, what were the differences in set up to previous years?

The Other Stage?  A great big chunk of the Oxlyers camping had been given over to arena, extra repeaters and screens added in.  The whole arena just felt more expansive and impressive.  As well as obviously having a larger capacity.

They had widened a lot of walkways as well - near Arcadia for example, and other high traffic areas.

They also introduced a massive new 'chill out' space on the hill up from Shangri La, and moved around some entrances and exits to help with flow.

They sent out notifications to your phone each morning to let people know what the busy sets would be. They closed fields much sooner than in previous years. I was at Kneecap for example and there was lots more room compared to Sugababes as they shut the field down earlier.

They also sent a little leaftlet out with the tickets with a lot of info about crowds (sometime there's more room at the front, you probably need to get there for the artist before if you want a good spot, and they announced they'd be doing notifications in the app each day to let us know of the busy sets).

It just made everything feel much more organised and got everyone actively thinking about navigating crowds in a way perhaps we hadn't in previous years.

It was like night and day compared to previous years, for our gang. We thought they had finally absolutely nailed it in terms of crowd management, for the first time post COVID.

did you even have the app installed ?

Don’t think so. Never used it if I did. No need, acts, times and stages on “the back of a fag packet” is good enough

Directions to other areas on the big screens after acts like Charli XCX also helped split the crowds.

Looks like just a new organiser

For everyone who's been wondering whats going on with Glastonbury Green crafts, let me introduce you too the new leader of the field ❤️ this is the lovely Emma.
Shes been part of the field for a long time as a crafter, Ring a roses, she has also been running the craft area at the green gathering for many years. Shes an amazing and kind person, and i know that she'll bring the field back to the original ethos, and passing on crafts to the next generation.
The field really is in safe hands with Emma.

    • Hilarious to describe this as suprising, for the guy who can't afford to go on holiday, the guy who goes on holiday is rich, for the guy who goes on holiday, the guy who gets 3 holidays a year is rich, for the guy who gets 3 holidays, the guy who stays in 5* hotels is rich, for the guy who stays in 5* hotels, the guy that flies business class is rich, for the guy who flies business class the guy with a private jet is rich etc..   I think one of the greens video's that they put out that went viral, Zacks description of "the rich" covered 12 people in the UK.
