Acoustic stage 2025

Last year I worked at Cockmill bar and a big perk was we could see and hear the bands from the bar. Gypsy Kings on Sunday night was brutally busy though.

Hoping to get assigned there again this year. Bootleg Beatles is the only one where I think we’ll be busy, but who knows. All good music to listen to while pouring pints 🙂

Some great stuff there, Ani DiFranco, Tift Merritt, Rhiannon Giddens stand out. Looks like I’ve found my Friday night headliner. But wouldn’t mind a bit of The Searchers, Dhani Harrison, Billie Marten, Hugh Cornwell , The Bluebells, PP Arnold if there isn’t any clashes either. That celebration of Bob Dylan could be good fun as well.

Depending on what appears elsewhere I’d be happy there on the Friday night as well.  George Harrison’s son on before the searchers, then Ani.

This is where the fun starts. Love the small stage posters coming out. At first look The Searchers will be great fun, and very intrigued by Hugh Cornwell

Saw Cornwell on his own in Guildford years ago, was a decent set. Funny enough we had a whatsapp chat about the possibility of Searchers a few weeks ago, they've got a cracking list of songs!

The Sunday one-two of Anrold into Gospel could be my shout

Yeah like the sound of that, we'll see what the other stages throw up. Acoustic right next to some real ale which is helpful, well at least I hope that it hasn't degenerated. I can't remember back to 2022 😂

Nick Lowe and the Searchers could be like that.

I ordinarily have little interest in the Searchers but if there's not a clash I think I could be tempted for this reason (perfect catchy tunes for a fun set) and it being their final gig.

I never really know anthing about the Acoustic Stage artists - but ive seen Billie Marten before and she was great

She is great, and was fantastic in Avalon last year, also coming back on to do vocals on a track with Flyte too. Unless there's an unfortunate clash, I'll be there for Ms Marten again.

Someone has probably said this already, but you've got to think the Magic Numbers will be on the lineup somewhere. If I remember rightly Michele Stoddart had back issues last year so had to cancel her Acoustic Stage solo show and the Magic Numbers gig (at Avalon?).

Would expect them to be back doing their regular "and friends" thing at about midnight on Sunday in Toad Hall.

    • Wednesday is a nice addition imo
    • Kronenberg in a tent as well IIRC but Brooklyn Pilsner was easier to get without queueing and was everywhere across the festival.
    • I think they'll end up doing something due to pressure and bad PR. Maybe they do a discount code for next year or bar credit or something along those lines.    I agree though. I acknowledge that the lineup is huge but surely you can't cancel 33% of the headliners and not reimburse in some way. Their insurance will probably cover their fees for MA, Doja, Bad Gyal and Mac DeMarco due to force majeure.
    • Looks like nothing for weekend ticket holders. You'd expect a goodwill gesture.
    • Enough has been covered about how much of a sh*t show that was, so I'll just say, Massive Attack and it's relationship with this festival (and potentially me) are f**king cursed.    They were announced in 2020 when I first got excited about seeing them. They were subsequently on the poster for 21, 22 and now 26. This time I was in actually in the crowd close to the stage waiting for them twice haha. I give up!
