Any other potential options for the already booked one ?

Could be a handful of people really

Fontaines, Oasis, RAYE, Liv Dean

Or the most obvious choice, Daft Punk coming out of retirement for a one off gig.....

Those dates were sold out on the back of his whole body of work before the album came out.  I agree it's a huge achievement, but unfortunately the new album is mid and so therefore he's squarely in his flop era.

While I disagree with you - I also think that if Harry headlined glasto he'd do something unique for the festival.  I dont think it would be your average Harry show from the tour

80% sure id watch him if he played … would have to be a very strong alternative to take me in another direction

I'm the other way around. 80% sure I'd give him a miss, but if there are no strong alternatives...

That said I wouldn't complain about the booking. Good to have somebody so popular who hasn't done it before. Just not really for me. See you at West Holts.

Think we might have to massively agree to disagree on that - he is one of the biggest names in the world right now IMO

Course he is, but it doesn't mean he's doing anything of importance or merit.

Styles is clearly a massive booking, he'll get a huge crowd but I doubt it'd be one that empties the rest of the festival a la Elton or Macca.

It's right that the festival is looking to book acts that cater for the younger parts of the crowd, but there's enough of us older attendees shouting at clouds that'll be elsewhere.

Personally I thought Sign Of The Times was pretty good, and maybe he was onto something, but everything else I've heard by him is pretty insipid, with the exception of Watermelon Sugar which I can safely label as abysmal.

I’d almost certainly (90%) go and see Harry unless the clash gods are unkind and there’s someone I’d rather see elsewhere. Either way he’d be a great booking and get a big crowd. And isn’t the joy of Glastonbury that there’s always something else on somewhere else if it’s not your bag. Would also probably mean there would be non-pop acts the other nights to balance things out.

Oh im sure he would absolutely smash it -    I think similar to O-Rod this year - definitely some doubters out there - but really its not in any doubt - it will go down well and be reasonable packed

For me I just think i have to really like a Pyramid Stage headliner to get me there - Il pick the headliner i most want to see even if it means im on a small stage.

Styles one of those weird ones where people may debate that he's "too big" for the G, but imagine he'd go down a treat.

You can't be too big for Glasto I think - its just whether the act is actually interested in doing it or not I feel.

He seems like he would be - he's not exactly struggling for cash so if he wants to do it, will happily take the pay cut.

Its always been my suspicion that if act was to headline like Harry Styles - a lot of people will got to check it out - by way of they would not pay to see him normally so take the chance as part of the all you can eat buffet of Glasto as opposed to being on a smaller stage somewhere

but probably best on this if I let people speak for themselves on this one im sure theres a variety of opinons

I'm in the camp of would go see Harry unless there was something I specifically wanted to see elsewhere.  If it was a headliner night where all the options are "wouldn't mind" rather than "want to see" then he'd probably win.

And that's on the basis that I like his stuff enough to warrant it.

i like his 'dress like a schoolteacher from a seventies sitcom' aesthetic, it really riles some people up, but i wouldnt watch a single second of him live - its absolutely not for me musically.

Quite welcome as a headliner though, it should be given to different people instead of generic indie nonsense 👍 even if that different isnt for me. Dont cater to me, im a bloke in his forties ffs!

There's nothing wrong with doing this though.  I didn't really have any must sees on the Friday of last year so went to see The 1975 on the off-chance they played an absolute blinder (they didn't, but thats by the by).

Being at one of the smaller stages watching Maribou State or Loyle Carner wouldn't suddenly have made me a more discerning person.

Ahhh i see - i was thinking you were going for a more 'because its the pyramid' angle.

Golden, Falling, Sunflower Vol. 6, Fine Line, Matilda, Aperture and Season 2 Weight Loss are all good songs imo. Worth a go if you've not tried some of them before

He definitely would be I would say. He's curating (and playing at) Meltdown Festival, which won't exactly be a huge earner. He's incredibly keen to increase his credibility/authenticity in the eyes of the public/critics, and headlining Glastonbury is obviously an avenue to doing that

    • Top 5 acts of the weekend for me: 1. The Cure 2. my bloody valentine  3. caroline 4. Father John Misty 5. Big Thief   Biggest disappointments: - Slowdive (the mixing/sound just wasn’t right, and that was about 20 rows from the front of the stage) - The xx (also too quiet and marred by talkers who had no interest in the music)    Positives from an organisational sense: - extra water point at Mordor this year - handing out ponchos before the rain and ear plugs before mbv    However…two of the water points had ran out on Saturday evening, which is completely unacceptable when you stop people from bringing in large bottles of water, and charge €4.50 at the bars for a 330ml can
