With Avalon at Glastonbury, if you do it once do you get an automatic invite for the next one? I think I read that somewhere.

Yes we got priority for this year - they said they were reserving up to 70% of spots for returners (first come first served when booking opened) then approx 30% of spaces for new volunteers. I don't think it works beyond that though - ie if you skip it one year, you wouldn't then have priority.

Thanks for the info. Do you know which bars Avalon run?

I'm on the Avalon waiting list. I don't have any bar experience though so not feeling optimistic. Unsuccessful with Oxfam, I did this last year and it was great. Have applications in with Wateraid and Greenpeace also.

Couldn't you just lie about bar experience? It's only a little fib really, isn't it?

I would have thought that if you'd got yourself on the waiting list they've already decided your lack of bar experience isn't an issue. I haven't worked behind a bar in 25 years and am also on the waiting list, it's not like working behind a bar is that difficult.

Recycling Crew shifts should be allocated on 15/16 March. If all outstanding applications are completed they will be full.

Yes, saw that on FB earlier today 🥳

Just catching up on eFests after a suuuuuper busy start to the year.

Any new Avalon crew who want to be part of a WhatsApp group, here's the link:

https://chat.whatsapp.com/85Plq1Xb5CY0izjYyFKUlp

The group is currently set to admin messaging only; we usually open it up around mid-late April when the training email goes out.

Nb. Not affiliated with Avalon bars in any way. Just a group of 300 volunteers chatting all things Glasto and volunteering.

Don't worry @LCR I applied with no bar experience stated and got through on waitlist, I'm confident it doesn't count against you. Also... I learned quickly that very few bars operate 12 at a time pouring machines, aka "the cow" so most newbies to Glastonbury bar work were on a learning curve. Hope you make it in buddy.

Putting this one out there early, any Oxfam people in a pair who desperately want to see Charli XCX or Neil Young and end up with shifts on the Saturday, hit me up about a shift swap. I've got zero must sees and two might-sees on Saturday and a hugely stacked Friday and Sunday so will be trying to swap to work it. I'm guessing Charli will be the big one for many

I'm flying solo but may well want to swap to keep Saturday free if that’s any use

Its weird with shifts - i always presumed the late (2-10pm) would be the one that takes out most of the artists i want to see, but actually it worked out great cos you finish just in time for a headliner (assuming you're quite near the stage) and can then get right amongst the late night stuff cos you're really up for it.

The overnight obvs takes out any chance of late night stuff, but its only one night out of the five potential nightshifts, and tends to go the quickest, in my experience anyways. They're cold, but quick.

I'm not going to get forensic about the lineup til i know what i'm doing, Neil Young is the only must-see for me and the rest i can work around and see what i can - there's loads of things i really fancy
