Volunteering 2025

For the main entry gates like gate C  you definitely need more than 10 people as you have 2 people checking tickets on 4 lanes coming in plus checking tickets for re-entry /exits plus checking staff wristbands in and out. Plus giving out programmes and directing people plus supervisors. Some times of the day were quieter depending on the day but generally very busy ( maybe not between 3am-6am!!)

After decades as a non volunteer , it’s my first Oxfam! My son did two festivals last year, got his priority Glastonbury place last week, while I sat like a ticketless lemon! This morning when I logged in, I didn’t even see it in the list. He was sitting next to me and got me a place! Excited and apprehensive. I’ve also applied to Wateraid and interested in people’s experience of both.

Fantastic news for those that have made it . Hopefully shifts depending you make the meet this year . How many out of interest don’t do the shifts ?

Last year we had 2 no-shows out of 40 people at Glasto. At Wilderness, I’ve always had 100% turn up!

Although most people on E shift won't actually work that Sunday overnight shift, they'll work the opening shift with A.

Yeah I think D shift on Sunday main gates got off early as security took over about 9pm.

Perfect - thank you!

You won’t know the shifts til you get there unless picked for early shifts. Some also are standby shifts so not allocated to a specific gate but can be sent wherever needed.
shift times  at other Oxfam festivals can vary.

Yeah - I meant to go for in the sense of 'hope for'.  Fingers crossed.

Yep, while the above is a useful rule of thumb for the most common pattern, there's plenty variations within it and some gates aren't 24/7 so some people will get something quite different.

Also I understand supervisors start and finish their shifts an hour earlier to do the handover!

That's the one to go for then I guess.

it’s the one you’ll want, but you don’t get a choice.

Also - the E shift on the Ped gates won’t do Sunday night, but the E shift in some other spots might e.g - the gates of Oxfield still ned a Sunday overnighter, & there’ll be others.

It is the case that D shift CAN get off a bit early on the Ped gates on Sunday as everything you are going is dismantled and security have taken over by 9 at the latest, but you are supposed to wait to be formally stood down. They do each gate in turn. As supervisors at Gate C in 2023 we let stewards go when it was clear their job was done, but we were in a bit of trouble for it!

Yep.

Bit brutal for the morning shift but overall I prefer it. Getting to bed an hour earlier after the night shift gives you chance to get a bit more sleep before it gets too hot and on the evening shift you feel there's still plenty of the night left to enjoy

Yeah I swear when I've spoken to the people doing Oxfield on Sunday they've got a list of like 30 people to look out for from 2.5k

We had A last year and it was brilliant

Also had A and it was ideal, didn't really felt like I missed out on anything! Proper enjoyed my Wednesday morning shift on a pedestrian gate seeing everyone come into the festival, made the early start worth it 🤩

Hi everyone,

I managed to get Oxfam but my partner missed out. I’ve read online about setting up alert for when places come available with people dropping out, can anyone enlighten me on how this is done? Cheers

Ill try to dig out my previous post on this later (from last year's thread) but in short I used Distill.

Your best option is the post resale release of places if that doesn't come after the 8 week cancellation cut off.

Page alerts come in a bit more after that point as sometimes places do come up nearer the festival time, but you won't be able to cancel without losing your deposit by then
