Got my shifts through this evening. Always a relief.

Do this mean you know your working hours already?  Any good?

I'm on morning Tractor crew which I'm happy with.

Does this mean going round early on the tractor to empty the oil drum bins?

It's a little bit of that but mostly picking up the bags the litter pickers have filled and bags traders have filled.

well, it's a vital task and I guess you'll finish in good time for the day 🙂

how many shifts do you have to do?

Yes, what I asked for. I've been doing it for so long that I'm 99 percent certain I'll get my requested hours anyway. But with management changes and stuff it's still a relief when I see that confirmation email. Last year I saw a few stories on social media from people who have volunteered for years and then randomly get told they won't be asked back (well, seemingly randomly - you don't actually know of something has gone on that they're not divulging).

4 x 6 hours 0630 to 1230 Fri through Mon

those are some great shift times, I was lucky enough to get tickets in the main sale this year. But in future years I'd definitely be keen to work on recycling crew or Oxfam as I'd love to contribute to the festival.

That must be a nice area to clean! Got earlies on Pyramid again 😊

It's lovely! I did John Peel / Woodsies for 5 years and that was OK, but I prefer Theatre and Circus. We start at the top and clean up all the empty pizza boxes (shows how good the pizzas are!) then make out way down past the Astrolabe, over to Gate C, then back down through Theatre, Circus, Bella's Field and into Block 9. Beautiful place to be first thing (and fun to see all the spangled people heading back to their tents at 7am after a night in the naughty corner!)

WaterAid's festival volunteering fb page has been updated to say that today is offer day so good luck to all waiting on that (cue email refreshing for the next 7 hours or so!).

I wouldnt mind earlies at all, a 6:30am start and done just after midday would be great. Bit of food and maybe a snooze for an hour or two, and then up doing bits until headliner time, and a good five hour kip overnight. Thats 6 or 7 hours of sleep and thats about what i exist on most of the time anyways. Perfect!

If you're not into the se corner scene it's ideal for seeing most of the acts you want though

Yeah that'd be my ideal times, barely miss any music and id happily sacrifice any late night stuff for that, especially as the shift times mentioned include being off Wednesday and Thursday and (presumably?) being able to come in on Tuesday for the crew bars too

Yep. You can come on site ahead of the gates opening to ticket holders on the Wednesday

I normally organise an efests crew meet up on the Monday night

So have been offered a volunteering place with WaterAid that am obviously delighted with (especially as it's an org that I volunteer with aside from festivals so there is a passion for them as well as Glastonbury), albeit it comes with a little trepidation as know as an old git (mid 50s) it will mean a v.different Glastonbury for me relative to being a regular punter as I was last year. Not least means going on my own rather than with my wife which feels a bit strange  as was something we enjoyed together (albeit I know others who will be on site and will meet up with them at points over the week).  Plus obviously means time is not my own but am less concerned with that tbh as offset by my anticipation of early access and being part of the festival so to speak (and any fomo is kind of irrelevant if I wouldn't be on site otherwise).

Any general tips, perspectives?  Crew camping etiquette (e.g. will I be okay with our existing 3/4 person tent and not get froened upon; crew bars good/friendly)?  I am pretty sociable/talk to anyone (indeed it's one of my favourite aspects of Glastonbury so assume volunteering is the same ethos/culture)?
