This doesn't seem to be the consensus here but... I really hope the whole churnups thing doesn't become standard. I find it weird to expect a surprise.

Not a huge fan of there almost having to be secret sets as well.

I know I sound like a right grumble guts !

😂 I fell for so many of those over the years. Last year it was Britney Spears. I think Bristol post covered the story.

edit - there it is - https://www.bristolpost.co.uk/whats-on/music-nightlife/britney-spotted-bristol-airport-hints-8549291.amp - the amount of people talking about Elton’s secret guests was insane.

I always feel like when it says....

Eminem has booked a room. Always dismiss as there is no way these huge acts books his own hotel rooms.... theres a start lol

I know what you mean, but the Secret Sets are such a PIA I’d prefer a Churnups style thing. Saturday tea time 75 mins bang out the hits by an almost legend act as a regular slot would get my vote

Definitely going to book a room in Glastonbury Town Travelodge under the name of M. Mathers for next June

Would prefer secret sets either like the churnups or non at all

Hopefully the festival have stopped doing stupid things like Bastille on Thursday now.

Yeah I totally get this and  don't get me wrong I was at the churnups/foos and it was awesome! Made better for me by the 1hr cap.

But for it to be a thing every year would kill it for me. It would be possibly be a thing that I'd end up expecting to be perfect and then being disappointed with .

Once and done for me !

Unless it's pulp....

If we're doing a Churnups style slot again I'd like whoever it is to be bold enough to not post obvious clues online in advance. Put some fake band name on the Pyramid and leave us guessing until the day of with some well-placed clues on site/in the Glasto paper.

Glass Animals have a new album coming in July and no dates til August. Too small for a secret set maybe?

There's been far smaller secret sets in the past - could definitely be a woodsies / park one (or just join the lineup later, though seems unlikely for '24)

Isn't that what the standard secret sets were?

People arguing against big surprise special guests happening every year have presumably also only celebrated Christmas once.

Ok I'll bite haha.

Christmas for me is good enough without the presents. Family, food, bit of telly. I'm super fortunate that these things are good in my house. Presents are good, sometimes amazing yes, but if you took them away from me I wouldn't be bothered.

Glasto the same, it's bloody amazing and doesn't need the secret sets. They're good, sometimes amazing, but I can live without them. I've seen people spend time worrying about the quality of them etc when it feels like they could just crack on with enjoying the festival, which already has plenty to offer.

Just my opinion, super happy to be in the minority. Id never tell someone else how they should enjoy the farm. Tbh this is one of those things you get to worry about then you've got a ticket so I'm gonna just appreciate that privilege!

actually that’s spot on really, on both subjects, Christmas and Secret Sets.

    • Sure enough I did finish the Brosnan Bonds. Goldeneye is good but I think might be overrated by some Bond mega-fans, The World Is Not Enough is ok but nothing more than that and Die Another Day is just wild. I didn't hate Die Another Day like some have but its basically a wacky sci-fi film with Bond movie clothes.
    • Monaco comes across to me as something that's great for just watching people driving around, especially this year as it feels like this is a track where they can actually push compared to other circuits where superclipping ruins it, but where the cars seem to have outgrown it.   Though tbf Formula E has had decent Monaco races recently so maybe its a sign of car development philosophy being a factor.
    • Feel like a lot of people do just sit around by the stage at a festival waiting for one act anyway, no? I know Swift has a big mega-fandom - she wouldn't have done so many Wembley shows last year if she didn't - but it's not like she'd be unique in playing a festival and drawing a crowd on that specific day just for her.   But then tbf I feel like there'd be a few happy just to mosy around the rest of the site until maybe 2/3 acts beforehand.
    • Pretty good imo. Though I'm aware my position of being a big fan means I'm biased.   Reminds me a little of Justice, which shouldn't be that much of a surprise given I've heard Justice played a lot in Muse's pre-show playlists over the years.
