Rum Anyone

Left it too late to start any infusions this year, so considering taking rum. Don't fancy dragging a ton of mixer cans around with me though - has anyone got any great rum cocktail recipes, preferably ones that can cope without being refrigerated all day?

Picking this up the day before the festival. It's decent enough to drink straight.

Other than that, get cheap rum and ask for a cold coke with ice and lime from the bars, mix in your own stuff? Cuba Libre?

It is fantastic, tastes like the banana sweets and gets you special kind of drink but the next day, you definitely know you've been bumbu'd

As for mixers, I usually get cold cans from food stalls.  Ginger ale / beer is great but gives me heartburn after a while so your mileage may vary.

Fruit juices are also a winner

Rum and Ginger. It's just the f**king one.

Nicer in Barbados like.

Do you know if you can get ginger ale or ginger beer from the on-site coop?

Not a fan of going to the rum shelf at the supermarket to find like 80% of the choice is sugary spiced rum.

The only good rum!

White Rum makes me shudder.

I've got naggins of cooking verity brandy, white rum & captain morgans to take.

I have an unopened BIG bottle of of Mount Gay Black Barrel the 'rents brought me back from Barbados.

I dont want to decant it into plastic and session it.

However I'm pretty skint this year so it might end up being scarified for the cause.

Last year I was sick on Rum for the first time ever, only 1 week before the festival. Always been one of my favourites, haven't really touched it since 🫣 silly me, such a shame!

Nightmare because I'd stocked up on Rum and crabbies for some brutal dark and stormies as my drink of choice over the weekend. I just couldn't do it, stuck to the rest of my stash and a lot of the Rum came back home and is still sitting in plastic bottles. Probably needs chucking out now...

Last year they had one but not the other.  I think maybe just ginger ale.  It was a peak time and they tended to have say loads of that, lemonade and coke, but not a broad range.

I honest to God think Bumbu is the finest alcoholic creation available, it is outrageously good with Ginger Ale

Spiced rum and apple juice for the win. Holds up against the heat and the natural sugar in the apple juice helps stave off the next day hang over....either that or you are having an indulgent toffee apple drink with your brekkie!

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
