far from saints ( kelly jones from the stereo phonics )

Elvana

jake shears

the dammed

neville staples ( im gussing the specials were booked , but with the sad passing of terry hall )

loving this drop 🙂

Nevile staples has been doing his own thing for a while now. Still worth a watch and means ypu can see him in smaller venues (fleece, bristol ) as opposed to 02 bristol for the specials.

Isn't your usual theme "not much for me...but I don't go there anyway"

I'd only been noticing recently what a ray of positivity you'd become (not being sarcy btw)

I think they've got some great stuff on.

I'm feeling generally positive about the festival, the few acts I know on SH are great.

Some fun stuff on there. Holy Moly & The Crackers are good fun live, and was gutted about The Damned last year so will happily catch them. Laura Mvula's last album was decent, that could be wroth a watch.  saw Vintage Trouble in 2015 and they were great, but then saw them again at BDs in 2018 and the set was very much the same. Hopefully they'll have changed it up a bit, as sound-wise they're absolutely solid.

Having said all that it doesn't feel hugely exciting.  Maybe rose-tinted glasses but liked it previously when they've had something a bit left field like Shooglenifty, Peatbog Faeries or Lamb pop up there. As always I have no doubt I'll end up there for a few things.

Jamie Webster playing Friday at 15:40

He's a must see, for me.

Absolute scenes last year.

Definitely. I was gutted I missed him last year but he clashed with Sam Fender who I also love.

Already getting myself annoyed at the thought of him clashing with another one of my must sees!

Looks fine to me, typical Avalon line up. Always a good field to hang around in if the festival gets too much and you want to duck out of the madness for a bit.

There seems to be a lot of negativity around the bill in general this year - I dunno whether it's because last year was more stacked than usual, or if the first poster/headliners being a bit underwhelming other than Elton has set the tone, but I figure this, Silver Hayes and West Holts are all pretty much the usual level?

I'd agree.  In fact, from people I know who are much more into their dance stuff than me, Silver Hayes seem to have smashed it.

Silver Hayes is a massive improvement on the last few years.

Might just go for that one 🙂

Just in case there was any doubt of the voting intentions of the average Glasto goer!

Please don't ruin it for me.  Glasto is a Tory free zone!

Only left leaning remainers go to Glasto.

Surprised not to see Fenne Lily here. Thought she’d be a shoe-in for a slot at Avalon given she’s touring in June.

No UK / Euro festivals for Fenne this year.  She doesn't know why either.  But she did tell me that she may be added late to End of the Road (and if not, she's just going anyway for the hang)

Saw Jamie Webster last year at Leftfield and it was a great set.  Depending on tickets and clashes I’ll be there again to see him.

I seen him too Steve, great set and great atmosphere
