Oh man!

I'm a veteran of 'net message boards and have seen some really toxic atmospheres evolve into just the most horrible behaviour. This place, whilst robust at times and, very occasionally, frequented by someone just on a dickish megatroll, has always managed to remain ultimately respectful without stifling opinion and debate. The votes are an important part of that. That's a shame. Not least of all as two of my group are highly upvoted and were currently having a right old ding-dong about who had the most!

Hopefully Neil will continue his admirable style of modding and reinstate them at such a point that he had made his, and the dickheads might moderate themselves...

Ben

Spot on.

It’s really missing something without being able to approve or agree with a post without making another post to agree, like this one!   I don’t know what happened, or even care, but I hate it when the actions of some people change things for everyone else. Some people in that ‘shit ending’ thread really need to take a step back and log off for a bit, the same few people arguing with each other makes it unattractive to others.

And I will reply ... @eFestivals any chance of having this function back ? It seems like a majority would like it returned ... including me ...

My personal opinion is that the downvotes do add a certain level of toxicity.

If they do come back I’d like to see the system overhauled.

Keep the different options for upvotes which increase a user’s reputation but instead of downvotes change it to a neutral reaction so people can show that they do disagree with the post but they’re not just downvoting you to decrease your reputation.

Would be nice to give Gold Members more reactions too instead of just one additional reaction. That would certainly encourage more people to sign up for gold membership.

That would just create a two class system on the forum. Everyone should have the ability to react to a post.

*pushes invisible like button

Totally agree... I’m a gold member to support the site cos I like it, not to get special rights here.

Even if "up" and "down" votes are still verboten I'd at the very least like (heh) to see the likes back.

I feel there should be some way of acknowledging a good post without having to quote it and clog up the discussion with a post of your own.

I like the likes too, the little blue hearts. Dunno if they count to the score anyway do they?
