Some guy turned up claiming that the Stone Roses were going to play and had ITK info to back it up.

He provided a picture of a betting slip showing a £50 bet on the Roses, which our sleuths worked out had been photoshopped and was fake. The guy claimed his info came from famous radio DJ ‘Bob Harrison’.

He was great.

He then flipped out and went mad at everyone, and if I remember correctly dropped a bunch of homophobia in there with it.

Was called Roses4Baggie or something.

2016 was one of my favourites because the group I went with was spot on. Think I was still in the age bracket where 2/3 hours sleep a day was all I needed to get me through the whole weekend.

Can’t do that now but those were the glory days. Great year.

4 days - the Wednesday was actually pretty nice.

But yeah, overall it's not even close. The weather in 2016 wasn't even that bad during the festival, it was the flood a week before gates opened that screwed the ground and it never recovered.

This…

2007 was my first… trainers and sun cream on Wednesday.. on Sunday eve during The Who I was so wet and cold… but the festival had me hooked.

I missed 2008 as neither of my nephews wanted to return (and haven’t since) but bought my daughters in 2009 and this year is the first we have missed since…

in 2016 someone on site the week before took that video of the ground moving like a waterbed iirc…?

I found that year worse because it dried enough to become a boot grabbing sticky mess that you had to watch every step else you could be on your arse…

Excellent work…..

that video made me feel sick…. And gives me the shivers now.!

they delayed opening the CV fields and the traffic was horrendous..

Oh yeah. Took us 4 hours to do the first 218 miles and 9 hours to do the remaining 15.

Was 2007 worse weatherise than 2016? That was apocalyptic

Yes, although 10 hours to get into the campervan fields on Tuesday in 2016 was not fun.

2007 was my first Glastonbury, loved it but the unrelenting rain made it a slog, my soon to be wife actually got the early stages of frost bite, took over a week to get feeling back in her toes. it definitely had an impact on our  decision not to go in 2008, that and we were going on a big group holiday and doing wedding prep.

It’s quite telling that Glasto had two vacant headline slots (when Prince went) and when Foos went and Blur weren’t drafted in at all.

The band must have let the festival know that they weren’t interested in doing it that year.

They were also at IOW as well as BST, where they weren’t announced until late-April. It seemed like a contractual thing more than a late booking there. So chances are they couldn’t play Glastonbury because of obligations anyway.

That would have killed my van stone dead. I went night before and though I had a few bad smells from the engine, it wasn't that long and I made it.

To be fair to KK he was in the midst of undiagnosed Lime disease. At the time my wife and I thought who has allowed this old man with dementia on stage? Now we know what the issue was.

I think PM is in a much healthier state than KK was.

Ok, that's pretty awful.

Can't speak for 2007, as 2011 was my first year, but 2016 was brutal.

We came down in minibus and it had to be towed out of the mud by people working on site on the way IN to the festival. Great memories now but at the time - head in hands.

Cv fields were so funny. We all got towed in by a tractor

They were doing tractor shuttle runs in CV19 from early morning on the Wednesday… it was pretty impressive to watch (we had got in under our own steam on Tuesday eve) but must have been nervy..

on leaving Monday one of the metal roadway tracks lifted up as I drove over it and whacked the motor mover on my caravan back a couple of inches… this proceeded to rip thru the tyres as we got onto the A37 and punctured both tyres..

a police motor cyclist told me I couldn’t ‘park’ on the A37 (😂) and escorted me (flat tyres and all) to an old pub at the bottom of the hill at Wraxhall(?)….

we were there 5 hours getting the tyres replaced and the motor mover taken off… actually got sunburn waiting outside that old pub, it was so hot…!

I believe that they used Bath & West as an emergency site that year… and have since made it official of course… you can’t bring the mega motor homes into the CV fields anymore…

    • Hush cancelled with a similar event now taking place at EartH and Cate Le Bon doing her own show, maybe others have rearranged gigs?
    • Yeah I find it strange, if they were just a silly act then they wouldn't be headlining the 3rd stage. The likes of vengaboys yes but they aren't doing their own sizeable arena dates.  That looks very weak for what they could actually get, but GC aren't playing 3rd main stage with The 02 and the Coop arena and in a same slot that KSE are. MIW aren't carrying those two dates either, neither are Turnstile and Parkway Drive tickets didn't play out. You gotta do better than Ghost, Blink and Deftones though.    I think you are a bit even if that is not the intention. I'm genuinely shocked they booked them for the avalanche and I think it'll be rammed out of the tent. While ADTR will obviously get a lot too, many Download attendees will had the chance to see them at Slam Dunk. I think 90s fest getting Scooter was class and while there would have been some Download crossover, the Slam Dunk crossover given acts you get on the avalanche will be a different level.
