possibly happening in September...?

I can't guarantee this info is correct but I'm more inclined to believe it than not.....

I've heard that Glastonbury is considering happening in September next year if it doesn't feel confident about going ahead in June, and that it will decide which date in January.

Would certainly feel different! Wouldn't it be much more difficult to book bands if there isn't a confirmed date until January?

yep, although I guess they can mitigate that to some degree by asking acts to be available for both dates. I'd guess that plenty would want to keep the option of playing Glastonbury on either dates open if they can.

Definitely more chance of September happening I think. Leeds can do there testing plan and gives Glasto time to emulate it or use it a revised one due to more people. Also more chance of a vaccine come September as obviously there’s longer.

It would make me much more confident about it happening. that’s great news!!

Any indications what date in September? I think if its an option, they should tell people sooner rather than later. Jan may not be enough notice for peolle to change their diaries around or get holidays booked

nope, no idea of a specific date.

Hopefully early September, wonder if any locals have heard anything about council being sounded out for potential date moves?

any other events in the near area around then they would have to avoid?

Sounds very promising for a festival happening in 2021! What would the weather risks be like?

Potentially fucking cold at night. But I don't think the chance/amount of rain would be all that different to June.

I was at a festival in the second weekend of September last year and overnight was the coldest I've ever been, by far. Though that was in the Midlands.

EOTR runs the first weekend in September in the South West and as I understand it usually has decent weather.

Bestival used to run the second weekend of September on the IOW, and had a mixture of weather - some great years, and some washouts.

The first Glastonbury, or Pilton Pop Festival, was the third weekend of September so there's an anniversary there if they choose to use it.

Good point: when does the new school year normally start?

At the end of August or the start of September depending on school area..

But surely those teachers are (supposed to be) working in June anyway so it's no different. They'll have to call in sick either way.

For University teachers it could potentially help - exam boards are often held in late June, whereas term starts back mid-late September.

Yeah I'll be f#ucked my work had already asked us in July to book 2021 holidays, so I always book my summer leave over Glastonbury 😭 haven't got a ticket yet, so maybe it won't even be a problem 😅

September would work slightly shorter days and colder at night for sleeping in a tent!! Weather cud be variable like june!! This Wednesday was lovely and sunny quite warm then Thursday dark and rainy!! We have had mini heatwaves in September many a time!

Done several fests as well as camping in September: definitely nippy at night and very variable. September used to be quite reliable in giving decent weather but it become a lot more uncertain these days.

I must admit I would be a bit dubious on the weather! June is already a bit dicey, but at least you have the lighter evenings. In London this weekend it feels very autumnal and it's still August! That said we do have nice weather in September quite often. Only festival I've ever done at that time of year was Electric Picnic in Ireland. I remember it being okay in the daytime but really chilly at night (mind you I had a crap tent).

Would be up for it if it means it can go ahead of course. For the ticketless, do we think an April resale still? Or possibly later? Maybe July or something...
